Transmission Problems

I have a 97 gt with a manual tranny and my car grinds into 5th and will go into reverse gear but when I let off the clutch it grinds and my car won’t move... is my tranny gone or could it be something else?

The T45 transmissions have a problem with reverse, like a big one. my buddy has a 98 cobra that if he doesnt shift into second before reverse it will grind it and pop out. and as far as fifth goes sounds like a synchro to me and from what I've heard reverse uses the same synchro as 5th (don't hold me to that that could be wrong information I'm not too smart about transmission operation) I just had my trans gone through after mine stuck in reverse and it needed a new main shaft and new cluster gear, $650 repair installed

Definitely sounds like tranny, had a '98 Cobra doing the same thing.
