Anywhere I can find VIN codes on the net? Looking into a '73 Mustang. It's supposed to be a Mach 1, 351 4 barrel car. Just wanna make sure I'm buying what I'm paying for. Thanks!!:SNSign:

Mach 1 would be body code 63R; only 35,440 made. Engine code will be Q for 351 4v.
The first difit in the v.i.n.: last digit of model year
second spot is a letter: assembly plant
next 2 digits plate code: For Mach 1 it will be 05
next spot is a letter which is engine code: Q
rest of nos. are consecutive unit nos.

Now if it was a 351 2v, it will have an H in engine code spot (Q's are quite rare).

Thanks for the quick reply! :hail2:

Now, seeing as how a 302 and 351 have different deck heights, what are the differences in width between the valve covers? Without the two sitting side by side for the comparison, it would be hard for me to tell the difference. Or, if there are #'s to look at so I can tell the difference, that would be great, too. THANKS~!!:D
