The door tag is actually a warranty tag ,it is the vin number and it gives all the information of the vehicle but if you look at the bottom is says for warranty purposes only . DMV does use this tag for verification but i dont think they are supposed to . This tag usually gets get changed especially if a door has been replaced and the old tag was not put back . The vin number on the fender aprons is the only number you should go by .
