Progress Thread Vin Number

Hey there, new to StangNet and mechanics in general. But I have recently bought a 1971. The previous owner said that it might be a Mach 1 as well, but he didn't know for sure. So I was wondering how to read the Vin number so that i can verify if it is a Mach 1.

Mach 1 Body Code for 1971 is 63R with a 05 in the VIN for the 3rd and 4th digits.

Thanks you for your for your time. I have a 05 for the 3rd and 4th number but no 63R what dose that indicate.

The 65R would be on the certification label on the door tag. The 05 in the VIN indicates Mach 1.
