Vortech V1 S-trim Spacing Help Needed

I recently bought a 97 Cobra that already has a Vortech V1 S-Trim installed. I noticed that the belt was getting eaten up and realized that the blower pulley is way to close to the alternator, below are some pics:

As you see the belt jumped a rib which is causing it to get eaten up. Is the pulley suppose to sit that close to the alternator? It spins freely so I'm a little lost. If it's not supposed to sit that close, what can I do to space it out a little further?

It will sit very close but I have found it very common to add thin shims or washers to space the bracket out for proper alignment..... I have had to do this on nearly every Vortech and ATI I have installed at the shop. Definitly looks like your out of alignment
