I have experienced a failed FRPP lifter after putting in 1.7 rockers. Mine were noisy and I readjusted them warm which shut up all but one lifter - #3 exhaust pinpointed with an automotive stethescope. It would tick when first started, then stop with cool oil, but when the oil warmed up it would tick again. Pulled the covers and found the lifter would not stay pumped up like all the others - you can feel this buy rocking the rockers with hand pressure - the #3 Exhaust rocker would depress some where the others would not. My lifter set is 1 year old and only has about 2,000 miles on them. I am going to replace that lifter this weekend.
