Volume of a cylinder = (bore/2)^2 * 3.14 * stroke
Bore of a stock 351 is 4 inches
Stroke of a stock 351 is 3.5 inches
Volume of cylinder = (4/2)^2 * 3.14 * 3.5 = 43.96 cubic inches * 8 cylinders = 351.68
Volume of 0.040 cylinder = (4.040/2)^2 *3.14 * 3.5 = 44.84 * 8 cylinders = 358.75
My calculation was with 3.14 instead of the actual value of Pi but its pretty close.
