ok, you guys are thinking to hard about this.

Here is what you need. Buy a ls1 and put it in a fox!! maybe throw a procharger on it and a 6 speed. Thats all that you need. Throw on a good suspension and some sticky tires, you should be able to hang with a zo6.
Like a retard on Viagra

If you wana do it and have some good street manners then slap one of these in a Fox and hold on for dear life :nice:

Whats crazy is that were comparing Apples to Oranges.... Vette is a 7 liter 427 & the Mustang is a 5 liter 302. You want to beat a Vette??? Build a 7 liter 427 Ford. 505hp at the crank isn't very impressive for a motor thats 7 liters. Theres alot of people running mustangs under 400ci hitting the 500hp mark easily. Thats why people here are recommending building 347's to compete with a 427.

As far as handling the mustang will handle as well as your budget does. Theres enough chassis & handling mods out there to make your Mustang handle like an exotic sports car. It all comes down to the money. Theres an aftermarket upgrade for damn near every part on a mustang.

This is going to be the next generation of hot rod... The fox mustang could be one of the best platforms to start a project car, and the LS motor is one of best engineered motors to come out in the last 25 years.

Foxes with LS1's are gonna be this generations 32' ford with a SBC. Its evolution.

These kinds of threads always depress me, and for these main reasons-

1: 40% of the people here straight up announce that its a worthless battle, that the "better" car will always win and we Fox Mustang guys should just accept defeat and admit that we suck at life. Maybe its just because I've always been extremely competitive, but that attitude sickens me. Sack up, please.

2: Another 40% of people come on here and start to say things like, "put an LS1 in it" or, "build a Miata". If that is really your chosen better solution to going fast, please go do so. Once you've accomplished that goal, please GTFO of StangNet, because you aren't Mustang people, and probably shouldn't be here in the first place.

3: Another 15% of people will say things like, "once you mod the Fox enough to beat the "better" car, it won't be a Fox anymore". Really? So are you saying that the Fox hasn't earned its market share in the performance aftermarket world? Companies haven't designed all of those go fast parts specifically for the Fox? If I wanted a car that rolled off the factory floor cookie-cutter fast and just like every other Dr. Richguy's garage queen, I'd go out and buy one, dammit. I don't have a Fox as a hobby car because I'm broke ass; I have one because I want to.

The last 5% of you are fighting the good fight. Thank you. You make me feel like I'm still in the right forum.

Note that I'm not saying the Z06 isn't a fantastic car. It is a fantastic car. But dammit, Mustang people on a Mustang website should have some balls. The OP asked what it takes to beat a Z06, not what it takes to not beat a Z06.

Hmmm...what do I need to walk a Z06. An answer to the question, Why do you think you need to walk a Z06? Do you have bands of roving rich kids in your neighborhood, that only roll in massively overpriced Chevies? The CEO's that got the huge bonus's, then baled out, taking over your streets? I'd think about what I actually might run into, going for a cruise, to work, what have you, before I'd spend a nickle trying to compete with cars designed to do what thats designed to do. How bout asking, How fast do I need to go to be happy with my car? Screw what everyone else, specially Corvette owners, thinks. You want to beat them? Build your Fox to where the next Z06 guy you might line up with hangs up the call to his broker, and sits up straight, cuz he THINKS his boatload of cash(and warrantee issues) might get its clock cleaned by a $10,000, 20 year old Mustang. You don't need to do anything else.

You should probly relax a bit, nobody said anything about a modified fox not being a fox anymore. I agree with the cookie cutter statement, anyone with money can go buy a corvette and drive it like a yuppie.

But to call me or anyone else not true mustang people is pretty far from the truth, I'm a ford guy till death, i'll never sell my mustang, EVER, when i have kids, i will buy a fox mustang and build it with them, but my mustang has nothing factory ford left in the motor. So should i GTFO of here or can i stay?

In the end im a car guy, i love cars, fast, slow ugly, whatever, can we not talk about other cars, brands, or motors on here? I enjoyed this thread, because its cool to see other peoples viewpoints rather than just the same old convos

I can see where this is going :lock:

I agree with NikwoaC and Strippt88. My biggest problem with the corvette is that its GM, which means its cookie-cutter brand engineering. Make one really amazing engine, and then put it in EVERYTHING. Nothing is unique.

Build up a 302 or 351 stroker, or a mod motor, with boost, and youll have him beat.

...
and if you replace practically the entire car with aftermarket or race equipment....its really not much of a Fox anymore.

I'm not trying to be a prick or anything, I just hate when people discredit the Fox because it takes aftermarket parts to make it fast by today's standards. Remember that the Fox made the aftermarket, not the other way around.

The LSx-in-a-Fox thing will ALWAYS irk the hell out of me though, so sorry if I get defensive. :nice:

About going faster than a 7 liter vette......

You folks do know there are bigger ford engines out there than a 5 liter 302 right???

If you want to go all out. Theres actually a decent aftermarket for the 460 these days. Trickflow even makes a 460 EFI intake. Then when you start stroking the 460 to 514-557etc. A 557 stroker has been easily known to make 700+ hp easily n/a on pump gas. Never mind if you start breaking the turbos out!!!

thanks guys for all the adivce, i know i didnt note if it but i was talking about a drag race. To the person that ask if there is alot of rich kids around my neighboorhood no i just work at a chevy dealership and i am sick and tired of these ZO6 owners thing that there **** dont stink. So back to the qustion, would it be better with a turbo or a supercharger. i know turbos has the top end that i need but the supercharger has the low end torque.
