I've heard later C4's were stronger than some earlier models but I can't remember what year it starts at. I'm thinking about swapping my C6 for a C4 for weight savings. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

71 and up. 70 is also good, but some have an odd input shaft that can make things a little more difficult with parts interchange.

Look here http://www.fordmuscle.com/forums/c4-transmissions/index.html for any info you need on C4 transmissions. You won't find anywhere with more info. Check the monster thread first.
T-56 would be cool ($$) but for now I think I'll stick with autos. Thanks for the help Brian and Shifty.
