I have the latest FRPP catalogue and all teh CAIs for our stangs say they sare gfor 5 gear transmissions- whcih means standards as the auto s are 4, right?
Why arent there any for automatics?
I really wish I could get some guidance on the best way to spend 450 from the catalog

Thanks for the info. The site has updated since you sent it to me, now that package is at
http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=9398
The CAI part of the package, part no. M-9603-GT05 by itself is $649.00!!!!

This generic one http://www.mustangtuning.com/mugtv8pocoai.html
is less than a hundred

This Steeda is 269$ http://www.mustangtuning.com/stgthiairkit.html
This JLT is 294$ http://www.mustangtuning.com/jlt-96-04-gt-cai.html

I don't think Densecharger makes one for the new GTs yet (but someone in my club told me he'd used 3 different CAIs on different models and the best was Densecharger).
Anyway, why does the FRPP CAI cost over twice what the others cost? What makes them so much better?
Thanks

The Steeda and JLT links you listed, are for 96-04 Mustang GT. not for the new 05-06 models..As for the reason why Densecharger doesn't offer a CAI for the new Gt's is because they no longer go by that name...the company's new name is Tunable Induction, by DeMolet, and they do offer a CAI for the 05-06 models the link for TI is..www.tunableinduction.com The reason why the FRPP CAI costs more than the others ?? its because Steeda has designed and enigineeed their CAI and all perfomance parts, Just for Ford..Steeda is also Ford's official aftermarket manufacturer who participate's directly with Ford, in its technology transfer program, with custom and performance parts makers. Hope this answers you're questions..

when i clicked on the ford racing link you included, it says in the description that it includes a cai, a muffler kit, and an oil filter. i would say that's what increases the cost
The CAI and Pro Cal tool, are also available separately, you just click on the part # Anyway just in case..here's the link for the CAI.... www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=8980

Does the pro cal tool just cal the CAI? It isnt anything ilke a tuner like sct is it? That wouldn't be such a bad deal. Even considering I messed up with all the comparison prices (they were all for earlier models) isnt over 6 alot for a CAI (assuming the pro cal tool isnt a tuner )?

All the pro cal tool does is, re-flash the PCM's air/fuel curve, and the CAI.. It does not re-flash in the same way as an SCT X CAL II and you also cannot make any adjustments with the pro cal tool.. However if you're still interested..There are other vendors, that offer that package at a lower price..here's a link for Livernois Motorsports, you can buy from them for $529.99 http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/view.phtml?f_cat=2005+Mustang+Accessories:+Air+Filters otherwise, if you don't want the pro cal tool, then you'll need the SCT XCAL II

Or you can also buy the Steeda version of FRPP CAI kit for $259.95 + the XCAL II for $379.95 from Livernois Motorsports... either way you decide, you won't fine a better deal than that.

I went to the drag pack site again today and they had teh auto 06 set up now (http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=9401)
Instead of paying 1200 for it I think I will get the 8.8" RING GEAR AND PINION SETS and and INSTALLATION KIT
http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=9031
http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=5962
from it (which will pretty much use up my balance at the dealership). and teh tuner and CAI from tunableinductions you list above.
the gear and pinion set will change my gear ratio to 3.73 Does this sound smart to you?

If you're going to do a gear upgrade, I would go along with BigCat's recommendation to 4.10.. Otherwise, you're not going to notice much of a difference, if you just upgrade from you're stock 3.31 gear ratio to 3.73 anyway, so thats what I would do..Go with 4.10's :nice:

as far as I can tell the frpp catalogue doenst have 4.10 for autos. at least according to the link I put up.
If you have no other choice, but to purchase you're gear package from Ford, then I'm sorry to say that, at the present time..Ford does not offer a 4.10 gear package, for the 05-06 Mustang..So the only other option you have available, is purchase you're 4.10 package, from either another vendor..Or you'll have to settle for the 3.73 package, from Ford..
