Yes, that is a Ford Shelby GT500 Wagon

It seems like everyone is gearing up with plenty of anticipation for the Ford Mustang one-off extravaganza this  year (as expected) at the SEMA 2013 show.  Just ahead of the show’s coverage, however, we wanted to show you something that particularly caught our Mustang eye…a Shelby GT500 wagon.  Yes, you read that right.

Strand Craft, a builder of super yachts, has taken on the task of putting up the bragging rights for a Shelby GT500 with its very own vast cargo hold.  The guys over at Autoblog caught wind of this, and tasked their talents to render up what this car is aimed to appear as, in the photo included here.  “When” is the only question we have left to answer–and that’s easy enough–April 2014.  Funny thing, that; the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang just keeps getting better and better…

Ford Mustang Mach 40 custom concept

What do you get when you cross a classic Ford Mustang with a modern day Ford GT40? As you have likely surmised from the title, the answer is a Mustang Mach 40…the project’s title from Eckert’s Rod & Custom, in Oregon.  Their latest bit was aimed at taking a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang and slice ‘n dice it to have a mid-engine featured pony car, sourcing the power plant from a 2006 Ford GT.  Sounds plenty silly at first, but then you quickly eat your crow after seeing just how awesome the car really is.

After all, what’s not to like about a classic Mach 1 Mustang blended with a 5.4-liter supercharged V8, with “dialable” horsepower from 600 to 850–that’s crazy talk, right?  Maybe…maybe not.  Check out the couple of shots we thought were hot, then hop over to Eckert’s to check out the whole fold on this project car.

If Microsoft built the Ford Mustang

Microsoft + Ford Mustang = an interesting customized tuner concept, put shortly.  And yes, the concept known as “Project Detroit” does redeem itself from some of the overly tacky exterior lighting you see photographed.  So, what’s “Project Detroit”, you might ask?  Good question.

West Coast Customs has teamed up with a collection of Microsoft developers to tweak out a 1967 Ford Mustang replica.  From a complete build-up, the cast & crew involved included almost every Microsoft gizmo possible from a heads-up display to complete web connectivity to gaming.  Nothing like a dose of modern day tech smacked into a class Mustang shell, right?  We think so!  We just hope this custom classic Mustang doesn’t BSoD while rolling down Woodward Ave–how embarrassing would THAT be?  Hah!

Curious to know more?  Keep reading to get the full scoop on this one, keep watch on the tube for “Inside West Coast Customs” airing on the Discovery Velocity Network this coming Sunday at 9pm ET/PT, and hit the source link for the featurette video clip they have shared ahead of time!
