On the block: Prudhomme Edition Shelby GT500 Super Snake


News on the Shelby Ford Mustang front has somewhat settled for a bit, but we recently caught wind that the original concept Prudhomme Edition Shelby GT500 Super Snake Mustang is headed to Barrett-Jackson in a couple of months.  This Shelby a la Prudhomme is equipped with a 5.4-liter modular V8 boosted by a Kenne Bell supercharger (800hp on racing fuel / 750hp on 93 octane) with a custom air intake punching straight through the hood.  It also comes straight-up & ready to drag down the strip with a roll bar, fully adjustable BMR suspension, and drag racing tires.  Keep reading to get more detail in the Press Release.

Shelby Announces a Barrage of “new” Ford Mustangs

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for this past week, you’re well aware of the onslaught of Ford Mustang packages recently announced by Shelby Automobiles.  Several packages to upgrade the first generation S197 (2005 through 2009) Mustangs and announcement of the 2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake (pictured above) were detailed to the public just a few days ago.  All of the new Shelby packages can be applied to the Mustang GT, Shelby GT, and the Shelby GT500 pony cars currently in ownership circulation.  Ready for the laundry list of Shelby applications?  Brace yourselves; this might be just a bit much.  There is almost a half-dozen new Ford Mustang combinations based upon Mustangs people already own.  C’mon, Shelby…a twist on the old adage (you can get too much of a good thing) might come to fruition here and end up with a dreaded backfire.  Commercialism and marketing of something artistic and unique is a good thing…until it becomes overly common. We’ve seen some great video productions in a recent Ford video contest. We’ve witnessed firsthand how a Shelby GT500 changed the way people think about Mustang modification. There is one recent unique story we’d like to share at this point: how a blind man got the chance of a lifetime when he won a (spirited) test drive in a brand new 2010 Mustang convertible. 2010 Shelby GT500 to Pace the Mustangs Across America Cruise

Just ahead of the 45th Anniversary celebration for the Ford Mustang, several enthusiasts set up to gather and cruise across the USA from Las Vegas to Birmingham for the festivities.  The cross-country trip started on April 11th and will end in Birmingham on April 15th.  Over 600 Ford Mustangs from over a dozen states will participate in the event, which will be paced by none other than a 2010 Shelby GT500, adorned in red, white, and blue.  Upon arrival, fanatics will be able take part in the largest Mustang celebration in history, with hundreds of thousands of spectators expected to attend!  Check out all the specific details within the Press Release we’ve included for you.

Shelby & Ford Racing Announce 2009 Shelby GT R Model

Pinning up a successful nameplate once again, Carroll Shelby’s automotive division and Ford Racing have joined forces to release about three dozen “Jerry Titus Edition” track cars based upon the Ford Shelby GT Mustang.  This packed out pony will reportedly boast 550hp from the force-fed 4.6L power plant, tout a 3.73:1 rear gear ratio, a 6-speed gearbox, and of course, a full track tuned suspension.  The pinnacle note of the 2009 Shelby GT R Model will be to recnognize the 1965 SCCA championship of Jerry Titus and the last few units of the current S197 Mustang design.  Keep reading to get the official scoop on this “last blast” from Ford and Shelby for the 2005 through 2009 Ford Mustang production series.

2010 Shelby GT500 Launch in Detroit

Just days ago, we showed you the first official images of the 2010 Shelby GT500 and now, they have let this hot 2010 Mustang a la Shelby out of the bag for all to see in person at the Detroit Auto Show this weekend.  With star-struck fans surrounding the sweet SVT Snake, Mark Fields (Ford President of the Americas) made the official announcement for the 2010 GT500, sending chills down everyone’s spine.  What we found the coolest at the debut, however, was the Grabber Blue convertible that stole the show.  With its roaring presence for all to hear, it definitely captivated the attention it deserves.  There’s even a photo we snagged of the Grabber Blue GT500 convertible laying down some sweet-smelling rubber on stage to add a little bit of shock and awe to the debut.  Keep reading to digest the Ford Press Release and all the images from the 2010 Shelby GT500 unveiling at the Detroit Auto Show.
