NewTakeOff dual exhaust install on the S197 Ford Mustang V6

It’s no secret that most Ford Mustang V6 owners find the single-pipe exhaust outlet the bane of driving the entry level pony car.  After all, what bigger sign does one need to say “I didn’t get the GT because…”?  Regardless of the reason, the Mustang V6 is the staple of sales and rental fleets across the nation.  So what do can we do with something so popular and widespread?  Make it look and sound a notch above the masses, that’s what.  NewTakeOff is in the game of tweaking the Ford Mustang and flooding the aftermarket with loads of applications-of-cool.  This video (after the jump) gives you a great perspective for how a dual exhaust installation on the Mustang V6 is completed.  Take a good gander–we think this would be a fantastic way to spice up the latest 300hp V6 powered Mustang!

Ford Mustang V6 1000-lap challenge at Bristol

Mustang 100 Lap Challenge

It looks like the Ford crew is once again set to put their chips on the table and walk the talk very soon.  We’ve seen and heard full well the power, refinement, and efficiency standards the 2011 Ford Mustang has brought about; on June 23rd, the V6-equipped Mustang will be put through the paces at Bristol Motor Speedway (Tennessee) and take part in a 1000-lap challenge.  Big deal, right?  Well, it just might be–the 2011 Mustang V6 will be placed on the track for the lap count trial, but will only receive one tank of fuel.  So, on a half-mile track, this means the new fuel-sipping pony car by Ford will have to achieve over 500 miles on a single fueling.

Ford has set up a contest (www.Mustang1000LapChallenge.com) to help promote the excitement behind the event and allow for contestants to guess just how many laps they believe the Mustang V6 will go before running dry.  For the lucky ducks that guess the lap count spot-on, Ford will then randomly select one person who will take home their very own 2011 Ford Mustang V6.  Not bad at all!

2011 Ford Mustang V6 details released

2011 Mustang Duratec® 3.7-liter DOHC Ti-VCT V-6

We thought it was pretty slick when the first-generation S197 Ford Mustang produced just over 300 horsepower right off the dealership lot.  That’s a healthy dose of power from a V8 power plant..or at least we once thought it was.  Now, what if we told you the 2011 Ford Mustang V6 is set to produce the same amount of power?  It’s true.  The sixer of tomorrow that will be in the Ford Mustang for 2011 is rated at a substantial 305 horsepower and also boasts a miserly fuel consumption ratio of  about 30 miles per gallon (highway).  Amazing!  In addition to the increase in horsepower and efficiency, the once “entry level” V6 coupe also gets a wider selection of upgrade options from the Ford bubble sheets.  The Mustang V6 Performance Package from Ford includes a 3.31 rear axle, a firm Mustang GT suspension, warm weather performance tires, electronic stability control, and a strut tower brace.  Whew.  If the V6 gets this many goodies for the next Ford Mustang iteration, we are definitely excited to see what the Mustang GT and the Shelby GT500 might be the recipients of!  Keep reading to get the full scoop in the Press Release from Ford.
