6. The next step is to grind of the little tab on the inside of the bracket using a Dremel or a file.



7. Attach the new hose to the caliper by using the old Banjo bolt and two new copper crush washers. There should be one crush washer on each side of the fitting. Do not tighten down the bolt all the way yet.

8. Attach the other end of the new hose to the hardline. Remember to put the hose fitting through the bracket. Do not tighten this fitting all the way. Adjust the hose and check for possible clearance problems. Make sure that the suspension can move through its extreme up and down with the steering turned full left and full right. Be sure to check that the hose does not kink or rub on anything either.

9. Once you are sure that everything clears ok, torque down the banjo bolt to 20ft/lb, tighten down the connection to the hard line with a 11mm flare wrench and secure the hardline fitting with the old clip that you removed in stage 3. The Left side is now done.

10. The right side installation is the same as the left side. The following are pictures from the right side installations.

11. The next step is to bleed your brakes. This is where you need a friend to apply pressure to the brake pedal as you open and close the bleeder valve on the caliper using a 10mm wrench. You are finished bleeding the brakes when the fluid comes out clear with no bubbles.

12. Lastly, put your wheels back on and lower the car from the jackstands. Now take it for a test drive to make sure everything works. Check that the lines do not rub on the tires.

13. Overall, I really liked the fit and finish of these lines and the DOT approval doesn't hurt either. The brakes felt slightly firmer, but this difference could be attributed to bleeding the system. This modification was more about safety to me. I had heard stories about brake line failures on the 96+ Cobras and I did not want to risk this when going to the SVT Ontrack event.
