How many of you purchased an extended warranty/road hazard protection for your tires and actually used it for a free replacement tire?

I'm in the process of buying 2 Nitto 555 drag radials (305/35/18) and they're about $290 each (expensive). I hear that they'd last up to 15,000 miles (which is about one year give or take) and I was wondering if it was worth it to purchase road hazard protection.

I haven't had permenent damage to my tires so far in the last 2 years, but I know things may/can happen.

I ran over a nail on one of my nitto's on the front and had it replaced. Then I hit a curb and blew out both right side tires and had both of them replaced. Ive had it pay for three tires in as many years. I think its worth it.

I got it when I bought my Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s. Glad I did too. One roofing nail through the treads at a 20* angle (unpatchable/ unplugable) Replaced. Another nail, this one actually made it's way inside the tire and tore it up on the inside (don't ask how, cause I'm still trying to figure that one out myself)). Both tires replaced NQA. bought from discount tires direct and tirerack. I used both because sometimes they are in-stock and sometimes they're not.

ouch you hit a nail at a 20 degree angle? I wonder how you pulled that off lol :rlaugh:

but point taken on the road hazard protection. I think I should get it with tires that cost $580 for 2.

I do it, its only a few dollars but i attract nails and other debree so i will get insurance on 1 tire and if something happens they don't ask what tire it is because i just take the rim/tire off and bring it in.

My Story:

1.Brought a new tire for $110..
2.Didnt get the warranty..

3.acouple weeks later. Moved to close to the curb to get my car away from another car coming the opposite way to close and bam.. Made the loudest noise ever than rode on the rim for abit.

I was pissed. I lost a wheel and almost a rim. That rim held air for acouple months till i hit to many pot holes and opened the gap up like a **** star in a gang bang.

4???????? Replaced tire with more money. Bascially, $110+Tax+fees down the drain.

I am moved by your story :)

I didn't get insurance on mine...blew a tire and it cost me $200...I shoulda lol

<Dwight Schrute> QUESTION </Dwight Schrute>Why are you putting DRs on your car Sera? Are you honestly having traction issues with a K&N and exhaust?

My KDW2s are solid all spring summer and I don't have traction issues with 350+ to the wheels. :nice:

Not flaming, just honestly asking :)

I am putting drag radials on my car for the pure reason of having a buff tire look in the rear. If you notice my mods, most are all for eye candy :)
