 Yep busted the 11 second zone....pretty easily I might add once I figured out how to launch with the TOTALLY new setup (turbos, spec stg 3 clutch, and 315 nitto DRs). Had great prep...as always with FFW, but my best time came when they handed the track back to Houston race way park. I ran about 6 times durring FFW and about 3 times after wards. It was about 80*s outside and ALOT of humidity. Probably 75%+...so it wasnt the best day by any means.

Anywho, VERY first run out of the gate resulted in a 12.3 @ 120MPH. (im #536)

Im used to launching at NO MORE than 4000RPM and started @ 3500 today....BOG. I kept working my way up, and it helped, but before the FFW part was over I couldnt break out of the 12s.

Next run I decided to hit 5th gear. :notnice: Killed the trap.

So after that I stayed in 4th (crossing at 6000RPM  ) and ran 3 or so more but all were around the 12.0 range @ 120. Time slip machine started screwing up, so 2 of my slips I didnt get any 1/4 mile data....but some friends I made, as well as my dad said they were 12.0s. And I accedentally made an 8PSI run lol...still trapped 119MPH, but thats one that 1/4 didnt show up...but it showed I ran a 8.03 @ 94.5 MPH in the 1/8 though.

Let the car cool off and waited for the FFW event to end. Lined up in the staging lanes waiting for the track to be ready to run at about 6PM and what pulls up next to me? 2003-2004 cobra :hail2: . But no, not a stock one. I talked a while to the owner ( VERY cool guy) and it turns out it was a full bolton (LTs included), pullied and ported cobra! 2.8 pulley with a 2# lower and making 493RWHP. :hail2: He was alos running BFG DRs, but couldnt get them to hook with his new clutch and after porting the blower.

So we line up and I FINALLY get a good 60' by launching @ 4500RPMs. 1.84 60' and pull him right right awayout of the whole. Ran down the track and the whole time I was pulling away....slowly, but still definatly pulling. He had trouble right near the end though(3rd-2nd gear  ) . Anywho, I ran an 11.79 @ 122...dont know his. (doesnt show opponents time) . But he told me its been running low 12s (spinning of the line) @ 118ish. I watched him run 2 more times and same thing, spins some off the line and goes 12.0-.3 @ 116-118MPH. He said before with the stock clutch and non ported blower, he was pulling 1.6 60s and running 11.7s! But definatly a VERY NICE freegin car and fast as heck!

Anyways, I hot lapped it and spun (maybe I bogged? lol) to a 12.0 @ 120....then hot lapped again for my final run. Had to wait in line for the last one for about 15 minutes...idling the whole time. And ran this launching @ 4800RPM. :nice:

All in all im VERY VERY happy! Especially driving the car up there 150 miles, on my DD nittos...full tank of gas, FULL weight + tool box, drive shaft loop my dad bought, and a UPR shifter my dad also bought setting in the trunk. I weighed it up there on the digital scales and with me in it (im light...130) it jumped between 3595-3600 for my race weight so its not exactly as light as I thought

My trap is also being hurt because im out of gear...normally you want to trap around you shift point. But my car has valve float past 5800RPM and just before the end of the traps I could feel my car just nose over @ right around 6000RPM. It would go 124+ if I had just a little more gear and no doubt if I had a cool down before hand.

Sorry for the long read...but I just had so much fun :D . But unfortunatly I didnt see any SN or local mustang club members up there :( . Maybe next year :nice: .

First off, Congrats! Your car is THE sweetest car ever probably...easily the sickest GT ever especially since the TT is completely custom.

Let the car cool off and waited for the FFW event to end. Lined up in the staging lanes waiting for the track to be ready to run at about 6PM and what pulls up next to me? 2003-2004 cobra :hail2: . I find that hard to believe though...not saying YOU are lieing, but I think that guy is full of it. A buddy of mine put down 540/480 w/ whipple and midpipe/catback in his 04. That guy should easily have been in the 500RWHP range. They are dogs to run though, the 540/480 ran 12's all day at the track last weekend because he can't launch it for crap even with the beefed up rear end. He also fried his stock clutch too.

Amazing! Twin turbos? I'd lie to know more about that. Did the setup cost 15-20k all told? What sort of engine work do you have? Again, congrads.

His dad and him did the TT setup themselves, I think it was under $4000 total?

Thanks guys :D . Yea its a totally custom setup, and basically I bought all the best parts so that drove the cost up. All in all (clucth, flywheel, dyno tune, gauges, boost controler, EVERYTHING we did to it while it was down) it cost me about $7000-$7500 :) . So not really even the cost of most base twin turbo kits. But i already had a tubular front end BTW.

Yea dussbuster I was thinking the same thing, seems low. When he was telling me all he had done to it (said $8000 in mods TOTAL) and then said 493RWHP, I was thinking "man that sounds a bit low...should be over 500 easy" ...generally he should make 510RWHP+.
But maybe he dynoed on a mustang dyno  . Alot of factors I guess...could have had the base blower port and not the stg 4, belt slip on the dyno (his torque was like 46X so maybe something was wrong) .
But I HONESTLY dont think he was lieing, because he was telling me alot of this stuff really before he even knew what I had...and since he drove up after I did, he had no idea my car had FI. No reason to lie at all.

oh and dragstr05 im hoping it will last for quite some time lol. All I know is that my engine has taken ALOT of abuse and still runs great...I jump down on it basically everytime I drive it, and then all those passes at the track. Its all in the tune IMO....and mine is extremely safe!

Here is a link to some pics of the car show.

Another board member took them, not me. I HAD my 7.1 MP camera AND my DV camcorder in the car, but never even took them out :( . I was having too much of a good time to even really want to stop and take pics lol.

One car I wish you guys could have seen was a 95 cobra... Orange and totally customoized by a father and son team. We talked to them quite abit because its simular to what me and my dad did (team wise...they were going for show. We just wanted a nice fast street car) and watched the modified mustangs magazine guy take pics of the care....absolutly gorgous! People were just stopping and pulling out their camereas and taking pictures.

He said it should be in the august edition of modified mustang. They are hoping to make the front cover...and let me tell you IMO it should EASILY.

As far as the rest of the cars....they had ALOT of cars in the show. ALOT of GT 500 Shelbys...atleast 2 were pullied. 1 red one was making 560RWHP with just pulley, tune and exhaust...guy said it went 12.3 @ 121 spinning at another track.

The most OVER THE TOP car there was that 03-04 cobra in the pics on the other thread. REDICULOUS! Freegin HUGE HUGE rims with enormous tires (didnt look but I read they were slicks) , crazy stereo system that took up the entire trunk AND the back seat. Also had a polished KB setting ontop of the engine :D. Alot of other chrome things under the hood was well. WAY over kill if you ask me....probably 50K in extras alone invested in that car.

hey this is goning to sound like a dumb question but how did you and your oppent run nearly the same time on that first slip but you were going over 12 mph faster (what was it too because his performance up to the 1/8th mile is impressive)

I didn't have more important things to do, though I must admit that the event really snuck up on me. I didn't realize it was that weekend, as I thought it was later on this month. My npi auto isn't anything special and I would have been pretty much killed by any cars there. I'm going to look up the times of the winners soon to see how I would have done in my class ;)

Sucks that it only happens once a year and of course I had to miss it:(

taller tires :nice:

Well if you look at his 60' time he DESTROYED me off the line...so basically he jumped way out on me and I had to play catchup :D And I was catching him in a hurry too...it was a nice looking 5.0 fox and I believe it had slicks.

I also just looked up the weather for that day and the time I ran at. 75*s and 91% himidity! Even though the track is about 46' above sea lv, when I punched in all the #s, it came out to over 1500' DA. Corrected times were 11.55 @ 124...but I dont use those, ill run it eventually on a good day...maybe this winter with some slightly taller tires :D

And thanks all for the responces :flag:

nice.

my buddy that did his homemade single mpt70 build went 10.1@ 136mph on a stock short block 91 with heads and intake.

im selling my vortech setup and going with a single 70 after i get a new place. probably a built aod or c-4 as well.

^Thats a 5.0 right? Yes, they have shorter stroke and also stronger rods, and can handle alot more power than my current engine....but he better watch out, because he WILL bust out the mains if he doesnt watch it. He needs an R302 block, or a Dart block...or something of that nature. At the VERY LEAST a crank/main girdle.
The 5.0/302 blocks are very weak...they start failing in the 600-700RWHP range.

One guy on line has went through 3 blocks in a matter of no time....has like 580RWHP. Cracks them and just rebuilds lol. So watchout how much power you try and send through it :)
