Best Place to Live

north or south I get down there about twic a year to play golf plan to move there for good in about 8 to 10 years good weather no snow close to the shore or not close to the shore if you chose seems like a good car scene in that area as well and as stated no front plates.

bleh, its 3 degrees right now in Denver, I was dealing with a frozen e-brake today. And then, once I got that fixed I felt like an ass as I drove down a frozen road sliding all over the place with my rear wheel drive muscle car --being passed by happy families in there audi all roads and BMW X5s. Right now I have to say Denver sux because there is only one drag strip and that is closed half the year. There is NO other tracks what-so-ever for running through curves. High Plains raceway is said to be opening next summer, but I will believe it when I see it. Also, even when it does open, it will close half the year like Bandimere. (the drag strip). The nice thing about Denver is the twisty mountain roads but you can get that in So Cal as well. I have to vote for So Cal for the best location because of the mountain roads, plenty of race tracks, no winter, and the huge car culture.

Oh AND... our HP numbers suck up here because of the lack of oxygen.

I have to agree with you on the weather. I put my car away for the winter because I don't want salt all over it. In the Des Moines area they go crazy with the salt and sand.

forget the snow and cold of the rockies, the elevation alone kills me. :( i am at 7200+ ft and it kills horsepower. driving to Ft. Collins is like adding a blower to the car due to the elevation change, lol. Ft. Collins is still over 5000 ft elevation. :( i cant wait to move back to Omaha soon.

My cousin moved to Denver last year and she's been trying to talk me into moving out there, saying how great it is and how much better than here it is. I knew she was full of it! :(

I knew the elevation sucked for drag racing. And that's definitely a turn off for me.

My vote, Las Cruces, NM! Future site of the worlds first space port (already in construction). No natural disasters what so ever, emissions tests?? whats that? lol. Low crime rate, very low cost of living (the cheapest place when it comes to ticket rates $$). Desert scenery with nice forest locations an hour away. Only one track, all concrete one of like 10 in the US. Car scene really depends on who you know..and thanks to global warming we no longer have winter. We have a 7 month summer and 5 month fall lol. Most of the population is retired people so no worries of young thugs breakin into your house or car. Oh and elevation is about 3000 give or take a couple 100.

Deff not the NYC metro area.
Prob one of the worst.

Just came back from LA.
All I could think about was having my car.
Should have rented the shelby gth from hertz.
Was drooling at the thought of running around those freeways with the mustang as i drove my rental chevy HHR in complete misery.

SOUTHERN MAINE

No hurricanes (some wind occasionaly)
100+ degree summers
winters= resonable DEC thru March/april
Close enough to big city of Boston but can escape to secludid places easily
Skiing, snomobiling in the winter, motorcycles and beaches in the summer
traffic jams means a potato truck rolled over and give the emergency crew 10 minutes to clear it up/
Portland Maine only has 80,000 people and you can probably get to know them all personally lol...
Maine Lobsters are cheap around here...

The weather is phenomenal (it rains like 10 days per year and its rarely below 50 degrees), its a beautiful area, and winding mountain roads are a short drive away.

Other than that, I'd say North Carolina is a pretty good bet. My parents moved to the Raleigh area a little over a year ago. It is cheap as dirt, the weather is pretty good - although it does get somewhat cold for a few months, it RARELY snows. Raleigh is far enough inland to not have to worry about hurricanes, at least not at any dangerous strength. There is very little crime in the suburbs - not sure about in the "city" itself. Motorsports are definitely big in the area. Some malls have entire stores deticated to NASCAR. But, here's the best part: NO FRONT LICENSE PLATE!!!

It's funny how the grass is always greener on the other side. I live in Apex which is 10 miles outside of Raleigh. If you are a car enthusiast, there are ZERO tracks around here. We have one drag strip located in Benson, but whoopee!! Cops are a SOB around here too. My butthole puckers up everytime I even consider a little spirited drive, even on the backroads. The weather sux too. The humidity from May to September is freaking BRUTAL!!! 98 Degrees with 100% Humidity is rough to live in. Oh and yes, you do have to worry about Hurricanes. Back in 1996 (I think) Raleigh was hit with a CAT 3 Hurricane and it devistated Raleigh. My parents house looked like a bomb exploded. They lived in a established neighborhood with tons of pines. Well we had 14 pines down that day with 3 laying across my parents cars and 4 laying across the BRAND NEW ROOF on the house.

I have lived in Ohio, New Mexico and North Carolina. If I had to pick, I would without a flicker of doubt choose the SouthWest. Cali, Zona, or Vegas for me.
