First and foremost, if the car doesn't have gears, that is the first thing that NEEDS to be addressed. 3.73's are a good all around gear for either a 5-speed or auto, but I'd lean towards 4.10's for an auto.
Best free mods include removing the air silencer, and bumping the timing. Oh, and if a 5-speed I'd get a short throw shifter if the car isn't so equipped. There's some good ones for you to start with.

I just bought my GT in Aug. It already had an O/R h-pipe, flowmasters, and 3.73s. A Pro5.0 shifter makes a lot of difference in driving and is a whole lot better. Won't miss the shifts. I would say some headers, and whatever you prefer for your exhaust. I haven't tackle the motor on mine yet. It has been rebuilt some 30+K miles ago and still has a paper filter and so on.

I have about $1600 saved up right now, but I'm changine my mind on spending it somewhere else rather than on the car. Some bolt ons would be exhaust, gears, air filter, under drive pulleys, bigger TB, mass air, 24# injectors, fuel pressure regulator.

I think I might spend some $$$ on suspension before I do some mods on the motor and borrow my friend's ET streets to see what I can do on a stock 5.0 motor at the track.

Definitely start with the suspension. You wouldn't believe how new springs/shocks and subframe connectors improve the feel of your car and help it hook. All the bolt-on's you mentioned look good except for the 24# injectors; no need for those until you move up to some different heads.

for a 5.0 heres what i would do in order:

remove air silencer
tuneup kit (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, pcv valve)
advance timing to 13-16 degrees depending on where your car likes it.
U/D pulleys
then get a catback, long tubes, and an off road x
3.73 gears
drag radials for traction, good for street/strip use
and lastly a short throw shifter. go for a pro 5.0

13s shouldnt be a problem with this setup after some seat time.

I think I'll be able to spend $200 a month tops. At first i want the bolt ons and then I'll think about saving for a supercharger. I love superchargers. I work at O'hare (chicago airport) and eveytime I hear or see a turbine I get numb. I guess its a problem cause I see and hear them all the time. My doctor said it was "The Mod Bug" but I know I'm not alone here.
