What's best to recalibrate the speedo with a 3.73 gear swap? Some people say bad things about DM Speedcal, some people say bad things about chips. I want to get it right the first time. Any info would br greatly appreciated!!!
thanks-chris :hail2:

Transmission gears will get you dead on and a Speedcal will get you dead on. I would go the Speedcal route. It's much easier than pulling the tailshaft off the trans and replacing the inner gear and all that BS. The Speedcal is pretty much a plug and play type thing.

Hey man, it don' matter if you're a fox, same tranny... i would know, i have one. same t5 in both 5.0's
Not true at all. There are many difference between T5's between all years of 5.0. There are even differences between Fox body T5's. The 94/95 T5's have an 8 tooth transmission gear which makes ring and pinion swaps a PITA when trying to correct the speedometer.

i've had my speedcal for a year now and no problems. easy to install. the speedcal is the only way to go because if you change tire sizes or rearend gears again you just go to the website and recalculate your settings and your done.

Hmmmm, that's interesting. As far as i knew, the only differences were the bellhousing and the length of the input shaft, and that was just to put the shifter in the right position in the car. We'll see when i put my tranny in in the next couple weeks. Seeing as how plenty of people have done the swap, i don't think i'll have too much of a problem.

Well, wouldn't it all depend on the rear gear you came with stock? my 95 had a 2.73, most come with 3.08's. maybe they changed the driver speedo gear for the different ratio, as well as the driven? And black70.... you done yet? i need that thing in my car!
missin second, third, AND fourth is NO LONGER AN OPTION

Joe, my inner gear was 7 tooth on my T5 in my 95.
Are you positive Paul? After my Dad put in the 3.73, I drove around with the 8 tooth inner and 21 tooth speedo gear for about 3 miles (Needed to go get lunch). I came back and he put the car back on the lift and pulled the trans out and put the new 7 tooth yellow gear in the tailshaft. The speedometer was noticeably wrong with the 8 tooth inner. As a matter of fact, I still have the stocker somewhere. Weird ...

well actually the drive gear was 8 tooth on my 90 lx trans. well its not mine, but im currently rebuilding it
From what I understand, all early 1990 Fox body Mustangs came with the 7 tooth inner, and all late 1990 Fox's had the 8 tooth inner. I think Hanlon, or DD has the same thing on their websites.
