Just got my Cobra back from the dealer with a new tranny. Anyway, I was driving home and some young guy in an SRT-4 pulls next to me in traffic at a stoplight and starts rev'ing me big time. I look over at him, see it's one of the dang neons and just smile at him. My wife was looked at him and asked me what the heck it was. I told her it was an SRT-4 and that they're pretty quick for a 4 banger. I don't know if he really thought he had a chance against me or what. I of course don't street race and after the traffic started moving he hit his gas to try to prove something to me and about ran into the car in front of him. I was also amused by the HUGE wing on the back of his car. Anyway, I just thought it was amusing.

they are quick little cars, but absolutely no competition for your 03. might give a bone stock 96-98 a semi-good run (when you think about it...its a neon...if its within a couple car legnths its a good run for the SRT) but their owners think they have more than they do

Allow the 96-98 Cobra to stretch it's legs in the quarter and an average driver will beat the turbo neon, pretty easily i'd assume. Put a good driver behind the wheels who can launch the V8 and you got 4 banger chop suey.

I had one rev at my also. I was waiting to turn into my housing complex and one drove by and revved at me. I laughed and decided to go after him. When I pulled up I noticed it had new tags so he must have just bought it. After pulling along side for a few seconds he got the hint and put his window down. Being a nice person I told him his car looked nice but I know you didn't rev at me. He looked at me like he didn't want any part of this and said "i thought you were someone else, a friend of mine". Not a very interesting story but i thought it was funny because that is the only car that has revved at me in a year.

I talked to this lady the other day and she swore on everything she had that her stock srt-4 could turn 12'd.....I of course laughed until I about cried and tried to explain to her but she wanted no part of it....Btw it's great to be back in the U.S. after being in Iraq for so long I have a new found respect for the U.S. I hope you all do too.

I had a silver evo match speeds (about 65) with me on the freeway. Car had boost pillar guages and a nerdy little farg driving it. He kept nosing it with the gas and I obliged him. Pulled easily 10 car lengths from a 65 to 115 run.

I then proceeded to bust the hazards on him.

54Life,

Welcome back and to all in the armed forces as well (assuming that you are in the armed forces, if not...welcome back anyways). :flag:
Thanks for your hard work! :flag:

About the rice...uh I mean Peon...uh Neon. Joking aside it's still a domestic brethren and a fast little $hiznit at that. :D

Yeah there was one at the track this summer running 13.6's just with an aftermarket air intake system. I didn't race him, because even though my times were 1/10 faster, if I get a bad start I am getting stomped. It is pretty sad that I had to supercharge my Cobra to not have to worry about getting beat by a damn Neon!! hehe

Good thread guys. One of the few times that there have actually been
civilized posts about this little car. The respect is very much appreciated,
let me assure you. This little car still has quite a way to go, clawing its
way up the respect ladder, and the little 16 year old punks whose parents
are buying these for them, don't help us to get anywhere.
Let me apologize, in advance, for the asshattedness you may run into out
there on the roads. Most of the people driving this car that I know, are at
least in their mid 20's to late 30's. I hope to have a run in with a Mustang
owner from the site, just to have the other side of the run posted up here.

:D Keep it up guys.
