I just got done talking with a friend of mine on the phone and he said he placed an order for some car called a Locus elles?

He said it only has 190 HP and no turbo be he will kill my Cobra and my C5...

Anyone ever heard of a Locus?

He said he will be able to pick it up around this time next year like he had to special order it or something

Well I just looked up Lotus Elise on google....

All the sites said they pulled 12.0 - 12.5 in the 1/4 @ 112-114mph.....

If he is buying one of these I'm gonna need some mods for the Cobra!

My Vette is hopeless of catching it so I just won't race him in it :)

curb weight is spose to be right @ 2000 lbs. 1/4 mile estimates i saw were 13.1, but estimates, so who knows. 10 gal fuel tank. 135 ft/lbs tq. 8300 rpm redline. all in all he's not gettin much car for 40k. i'm sure car & driver will spend an entire show talking about how great it is.

(note to self: must kill brock yates, csaba, & that annoying new guy.)

its like a big @ass motorcycle with 2 seats & ac.

Those cars aren't built for straight-line speed, they also aren't built for daily driving purposes. The people that Lotus is targeting are enthusiasts that will probably race the car at AutoX, SCCA, NASA, etc events. If someone straight-line races an Elise they're an idiot...from what I've seen and read, it's about the best-handling car in the world, especially in its price class.

You can always take your motor and tranny out and put it into a chassis of similar weight like a Factory Five Roadster. They are coming out with a new kit that will accept the DOHC 4.6. It weighs in at about 2500 lbs but, you would carry the ~390 ponies. He wouldn't stand a chance :D

'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me' car...just put you a nice pulley in your bad boy and push more boost & you might want to get a custom tune done. You'll smoke him with some nittos and more boost.

Heres a lotus elise

Lotus states that the U.S. version should run 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and top out at 141 mph. Sticker price is $39,000. That seems like a whole lot to me  .

Its a rather ugly car (reminds me of the current mr2) with a fairly cheap engine. I know it has power to weight im just saying its over priced for having a fairly un-modified toyota celica engine and transmission. Its also a fairly basic car and not super high tech as it doesnt need to be due to its low weight. The cars strongest point should be its handling and saying you have a lotus.

Id but a 5 year old esprit for that money if I wanted a lotus.

Run him into the wall and show him what 3700 lbs. of American steele feels like. That will teach him to race in a fiberglass box. :rlaugh:

ya man your gonna blow him out of the water . I mean by next year you will no question if your planning on getting a smaller pulley or any other mods even now you will but he does have a weight advantage

:nice: i agree. By next year if you put a couple bucks into the cobra you should easily take him. I also think that if you raced him right now as is you would still hold your own if not beat him...lets not forget how much better your car looks too :D
