Where do you get your performance parts?

I want to buy a new intake and carburetor for my car soon and I was wondering where the best/cheapest place to get them would be. I know that swap meets are cheap, but there isn't one very close to my house and I don't have the time to go to one. Are their any good online stores to buy from? I was also wondering what kind of gain I would get from a new edelbrock or Demon carb and a Weiand or Edelbrock intake. thanks.

I've always had good service from Summit. Before you order an intake and carb, plan ahead..will they work with any future mods? You don't want to buy parts twice.

Only 25hp? I thought it would be more like 30-40 since I only have a 2 barrel in it now.

I've thought about what I want to do in the future. Probably just heads, cam and exhaust after the intake and carb.

Jeg's is reliable and not too expensive, order a free catalog. As for your intake manifold, it sounds like you're just gonna build a street engine so you might want to get something like an Edelbrock Performer or Weiand Stealth because of thier long intake runners which helps produce low-mid range torque. I'd avoid the Torker, Torker II because these are single plane manifolds and are not the best for the street because they get torque at around 3000 to 6000 rpm. As for horsepower gains I wouldn't know, it really depends on what you had on before. However no matter what you choose, Edelbrock/Weiand, know that you are improving performance because you are improving the airflow velocity into the combustion chambers, which in turns creates more power. www.jegs.com

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a Road Demon 625 CFM carb and a Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake. I'm still deciding whether I should spend the money to get this, though. Should it make a big difference for my stock 2v 289? I really want to get more power out of my car.

i got the parts listed in my sig, i upgraded them from the same 2V 289 bone stock and while i dont know specific hp # i have now i feel a very noticable difference in tire smoking torque, and it seems to accel like no tomorrow until it shifts so if you are looking for a quick lil stang i'de go for the performer airgap and a good deamon or holley. GL!

Cool, That's exactly what I'm looking for. I want to be able to smoke the tires and accelerate good. I think you just helped make up my mind.

I think I would stay away from Jeg's. I have not had good luck with them on multiple orders. Now I just go with Summit.

Here's one I've used. They frequently have specials. For example, I bought a Holley Street Avenger from them for $285 (new) and the rest of the places wanted $350 or more. They don't always have lower prices but sometimes they do; its worth checking with them.

I get performance stuff from Barnetts Performance in Atlanta. That and Mustangs Unlimited, but MU is ironically somewhat "limited" in what performance parts they have. Barnetts has everything.

Head over to the Checker on the NW corner of Grant/First. They have quite a bit of the performance stuff that is being discussed (Edelbrock, Holley, etc). That way you can get an idea of what it is and then you can mail order it from Summit or another place.

Oh, and I forgot, you can also check out that stuff at Don's Hot Rod Shop on Stone. They have quite a bit too.
