I had the same thing happen. Same size tire. They took off the tire and patched it for 20 bucks. Its held up like a star, burnouts n all. Get it patched.

It also depends where the hole is. Patches don't hold to well in some places of the tire. Its not a good idea to plug or patch a high performance tire also. But on the other hand sometimes they hold up well like for those other two guys that posted.

As long as the damage isn't near the shoulder of the tire, you shouldn't have a problem. Plus the fact that a tire shop likely will not plug or patch a hole near the shoulder...they don't want the liability. Patches and plugs typically last the life of the tire without failure or leakage.

LOL.....i just noticed a nail in my lf tire today right before i left work.......just walked back into shop....grabbed a plug and tools and plugged it......plugs work fine.......been using them for years.....

Make sure they use a patch and not a plug...plugs are just jammed into the hole and don't hold up very well. With patches, they take the tire off the wheel and patch it from the inside-this way holds up well. Like stated earlier, it will not hold and most shops will not even attempt to patch it if it is within I think an inch of the sidewall.

yep this is true, i had to replace my lr tire because there was a damn nail right next to the sidewall. then about a month later i got the other nail but that one didnt cause any problems.

not to be a jerk or anything.......but ive been using plugs fo like 15 years and never have a problem with them.....and on my own cars....they have never leaked or fallen out.......in my opinion every bit as good as a patch.....

My 4th set of drag radials and every one had a nail, screw in it .Plugged each one did numerous burnouts to heat the tires and they held.To bad theres no road hazrd protection on DRs Id get my money worth.

I had an actual valve stem, off some other car obviously, stuck thgrough one of my 315 nittos. Thats a pretty big hole. I patched it and it held up great. Many trips to the track, and I'm driving 14 hours to Nashville on it in a week, so don't be afraid to patch.
