help with rear end question

alright I'm new the this board. I have a 95 that used to be a v6. I now have a roller 302 . anyways, I have a rear end question. I hate to see that one wheel peel on my sn and finally found a 8.8. only problem is that it is out of a 89 mustang. I was wondering if anyone new if this would bolt up.. I know the 89 has the stock four lug and drum set up on it.. I can deal with the conversion on that.. but I dont have access to a welder and dont want to fab stuff up.. I also needed to know what would be a good tell tell sign that it is a 8.8. I know it has the bone brace at the nose of the pumpkin just like every other 8.8 I have seen on 95's .. Am I wasting my time? :bang:

That is cheap maybe it is worth the hassle :D . if there is nothing serously wrong with it buy it and build your self a strong rear end. Check to see if the rear end has a tag on one of the bolts that hold the diff cover that should tell you if its 8.8 or not. if its not there I don't rememder how to tell :shrug: .
 
The Fox 8.8's are the same as the SN95, with exception of axles and brakes, but you already have those in your 7.5. The 7.5's and 8.8's in the SN95's use the same axles and brakes. YOu can pull the brakes and axles out of the fox rear end and replace them with the axles and brakes out of your 7.5. The only problem might be the quad shock location on the housing. I haven't installed mine in my car yet.
 
so the axles are the same but the shock locations on the 8.8 might not mount up.. do you really think this would be a big hassle.. I can always pay someone to fab up some mounts.. I can get the 8.8 and swap axles and disc setup I would imagine right? then all I got to worry about for now is some gears .. lets say 50 + 200 gears + 200 fab work.. 450 well under a new one or even a slightly used one.. :shrug: :notnice: :nice: :shrug:
 
I agree that you can use the fox body rears, but it will be alot of hassel, you can get by with that 7.5 for now, I've beating the hell outa my 7.5 with no problems, wait until youre ready, and just purchase a new 8.8, for around $800, if youre somewhat mechanically inclined, install it your self, and save on the fab work, and purchasing gears, because a ring and pinion will cost around 150-250, you would also want to rebuild your posi, which could run around $200-300 just for the parts, not to mention the labor.
 
.. correct me if I am wrong .. it will be cheaper, but more of a hassle. to get it.. :nice: ? :notnice: so is this a go or a no go on the rear end .. ok here is what will make me decide.. does any one know for sure if the 7.5 axles will fit the 8.8 along with the disk setup? :nonono: you never know till u ask.. :bang:
 
From what I was told from the guy I bought my fox rear end from they are the same, the axels and brakes will bolt right up, and I am not sure why it is such a hassle, it isn't that hard to pull the axles, and a couple bolts on the brakes isn't a big deal either. The guy who told me this had already done it on his car, it had a fox rear end with sn disks. The shock problem that I mentioned was the quad shocks, which you don't even have right now on the 7.5, and they are neccisary, they can help eliminate wheel hop, but you can run without them. Hope this helps
