I just installed my AutoMeter 5' Tach and noticed that it doesnt exactly match up with the stock Tach in my 92GT. When im around 2800rpms, the AutoMeter reads around 2500., its always about 2-300rpms off? Any suggestions or maybe i didnt install it correctly? Its wired right to the green wire under the hood that adapts to the coil. There are no loose connections at all, i already checked. Could it be the guage is shady, it was used? :bs:

I have the same problem. I bought mine used too. It's off about the same as yours except when I'm at the track. When the stock tack reads 6000 rpm the Autometer is only reading 5000. At that point, I know the Autometer is wrong and not the factory. I may send it in to Autometer to have it checked.

I have a 5" AM sport comp in my car and it does the same thing....the tach costs about 250 and the stocker is known to be off. Mine in normally only off by a little but its noticable. I would trust the big one!! haha it does cost more and AM is known for making very accurate guages, not FORD!

i have an autometer tach and mine is about 200-400 rpm's off at high rpms... the autometer is reading the actual coil fire, while the stock tach reads the PIP sensor on the distributor... id rather trust the actual coil firing rather than yet ANOTHER faulty sensor...

My Autometer tach is off too. And the bouncing problem may have something to do with the + or - connection. In my old Stang the battery was quitting on me and when it was low on juice the tach would start flipping out. Check all your connections.

I have a 5" sunpro tach and i love it. it is more accurate. it is like 300 difference at all time than the stocker.

pro50sc: i doubt that the autometer is 1000 rpms off at any time. how do you have it wired in? i have mine directly into the 6al box
