Hello everyone. I have been on stangnet for a year or so, mainly checking out the info on the 05 GT. After weighing all the options I believe I am going to by an 04 Cobra Convert. this week, Competition Orange. I like it for the 4V, horsepower, and collectability.
Does anyone have any advice or things they would have differently when they purchased their Cobra. The dealership has already reduced it $2500 just from a phone conversation!! I expect more than that when I actually go drive it.
Any advice you guys can spare would be appreciated, and I look forward to hanging out in the SVT forum as a proud new owner!!!!!

Don't let the heat of the moment carry you away. Wheel and deal on that '04 and make them come down as much as possible. Dealerships aren't moving too many cars right now with the gas prices the way they are so you have a slight advantage as a consumer. Don't take their first offer, or the their 3rd for that matter. Get up and WALK AWAY if they act like they don't want to deal on the price or your trade-in. Trust me.... they'll come running back to keep you from leaving! These poor car salesmen are really hurting in today's market.

Well I don't know what market you are in, but I am not hurting! Neither is our sales on cars, trucks, or suv's for that matter. Not to mention our gas is 2.29 for reg and 2.49 for sup.

The walk away theory on the cobra ain't gonna work anymore either, because with the production already ended the supply is getting very limited out there. If I gave a customer 2500 off a new vert and he walked o'well, and this would be especially on a comp. orange conv. with not so many of those being out there.

Well I'm in the South East and I guess we may just be a little better off than where ever you are! There are still some '03's on the lots down here!

Yeah $2500 off is good, depending on where the negotiations started at.... I suggest you do a little searching around on the internet. Sometimes it pays to look outside your local area...

Another local dealership has an 03 anniversary edition still in the showroom. He gave me an internet price on that one of $36500, about $1000 below invoice. It is silver with the anniversary wheels. That was my first choice but I think the extra $2000 for an 04 in comp orange is pretty reasonable.
Another question. What type of goodies did you guys get from the dealership with the Cobra? (shirts, hats, books, etc.).

This is typical dealer BS  ...check the forums such as modularmustangs.com and svtperformance.com and you will see that these cars are going at heavy discounts. I got my 03 coupe for $28.5...there were 04 coupes in the paper for $32 and verts for $34 and that was without dealing. It amazed me how delaers fail to recognize the knowledge assymetry they face with customers these days. Don't be snookered, get yourself a good deal and definately be willing to walk away...especially like the guy above. You may want to consider traveling for your car as well...those "rare" orange svt's are clogging the lots down here in south fl. Good luck :nice:

Your opinion is certainly biased becasue you're sitting on the other side of the table. If you can say you won't have a Cobra on the lot by Dec .... then you started with too few in the first place.

I agree with other customers there are way too many good deals and prices to get "snookered". :rlaugh: I like that word!!!!
$36500,for the 10th Anvi coupe .... more than I would pay. Push to $30K ... then see what happens.

Good luck Lawman85, that Comp Orange stands out for sure!!!
