4.10s and warranty

OKay so I've got a set of 3.73s waiting for install but after reading all the posts here, I really want to upgrade to 4.10s. Question is, would this void my warranty? I bought my 02 GT used from the dealer and opted for the extended 2 year warranty. Is my question stupid in that it depends on the specifics of the warranty or do 4.10s void all warranties? Excuse my ignorance here.

Also I plan (or maybe I should say "I dream" ) to have an engine built in the next 2 years by a pro engine builder that would have me N/A at around 450 to 480 rwhp within the next two years, would this render obsolete my current drivetrain...meaning would I enjoy the 4.10s now and then have to rebuild my rear end later on to accomodate such a powerful engine?

Thanks for the help guys.

it doesnt give them any reason to void the warranty....
Ive heard that if they find that you modified the part, they can void any area of the warranty that the modified part affects. I.E. Differential, Axels, Rear End. I dont mean the WHOLE warranty, just smaller stuff. :D

Yea, if you set up the 4.10 and then the rear axle starts to howl, dont take it in for warranty work to get it fixed. And be carefull with plug in chips or major mods as exended warranty policies will require an inspector for any major repairs to drivetrain.

Thanks for the replies guys...so pretty much I should bite the bullet and accept that going with 4.10s takes me over the edge of no return as far as having full warranty coverage...well I guess performance must come at a price

I'm confused. You're putting in 3.73's right? Why would they not concern you in voiding your warranty? Bottom line, you're making a change. If you want 4.10's, put them in. Done correctly, you'll be fine. But even the 3.73's, poorly installed, can wreak havoc. Am I making any sense? No caffeine yet this morning and it's already 9:30am.

Yeah I guess you're right...for some reason I wasn't thinking that the 3.73s would void any part of the warranty...brain fart I guess :nonono:
...well since we're on the subject of wrecking havoc with a gear change...would any of you be able to recommend a good shop in Southern Cali L.A. area for this kind of install?...or should I post that question in the regional forum for Weeeeeessssssssttttt Siiiiiiiiiddddde!
