i cant get my factory radio out

Most ford radios have two sets of holes on each side of the radio, if you have those on yours, then you can remove it pretty easy by bending and cutting a wire hanger. Bend the wire hanger into two seperate U shapes, and shove them in the holes, then just push them towards each other, and pull out, it should come right out. If you cant manage to bend the wire hanger the right way, then you can pick up a ford radio removal tool from like best buy or maybe circuit city for probably like 5-10 bucks.

You can see the ones I made in this picture.... http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/4/web/484000-484999/484771_58_full.jpg

Good luck.

i used the wire hanger like you said and the stock radio as well as the equalizer came out, now the problem is, there is a big plastic clamp and wire plugged into the equalizer from behind and i cant pull neither the face plate or equalizer out of the car - what the hell should i do, ive been messing with this for hours, even tried taking off the whole console to give some room to lift it up and slide it out...help!

Hmm, I didnt have that problem with mine. Are you replacing it with new speakers and a new head unit? Or just a new head unit? If its the case of just a new head unit, normally you buy a wiring harness that will work with your car and just start cutting wires and matching them up to the new harness and crimp them together, normally everything is color coded so there is no confusion. I guess I am still a little confused as to how far out the stock equipment is? Can you see the wires, or are they like half way hanging out of the dash? If they are half way hanging out of the dash, you may need to do a little coaxing from the other side. Get down on the floor (driver or passenger, driver is normally easier) and get a flashlight and a long flat head screwdriver. Look to see if you can see the stock radio still plugged into any harnesses or anything else that would keep the radio from coming out. If there is nothing else holding it in, then you could try to have someone pull the radio from the passenger seat while you push the back of the radio with the screwdriver. Just a suggestion, of course I dont know if that will even help....let me know.

ok i got it out and i tryed to wire my new radio with a metra wire harness, but when i hooked it up theres no sound. after i got really pist and i cut the factory plugs off and tryed to wire it directly but now i dont know what factory wires do what. i looked on that installdr and it has the wire colors but there not the same as mine, i hear that ford has 3 different configs for there wire colors and stuff so now im stuck with no stereo.

please help

Well since I am not looking at the wires, its hard to help that much, but I will tell you what I can. Every car that I have worked on (so far) has had the following wiring diagrams. Yellow, from my exp is always 12v constant. Black, ground And the speakers will normally be color coded, like green for one set, purple for one set, Grey for one set and white for one set. Then each speaker set should have 1 solid color (+) and one with a stripe (-). It sounds like you may have yourself in a little bit of a pickle. If you have time to match wires up, then just do that until you get it right (guess and check). If you dont have time, or dont have the patience, then I would say take it up to a place like Best Buy or Circuit City, find someone really nice in the install department and ask them just to look at it and see if they can help. If you get someone that is nice, they might just tell you, this wire is this, that wire is that, and so on, and not charge you for it. Worst case scenario, you have to have someone else finish the installation for ya. Sorry about your luck man, let me know if I can help...

............

ok i got the stereo powered now i just need to find the speaker wires and i know its gonna be nearly inpossible i went through 10 fuses just to power it up.
