i've read lots of reviews from people who own the 98-04 mustangs, many of them got problem on the clutch, and keep replacing from time to time, seems like it's a very command problem for mustangs? i'm thinking get a 2004 or 2005 mustang with v6 engine, but since i've read thoese reviews, it sounds scared to me...well anyone had these expeniences before?

when i bought my stang new back in '01 the clutch made a weird scraping noise for a while. it didn't affect anything mechanically, it was just kind of irritating. the first time i took it in they thought it was the throwout bearing, so they replaced it but the noise was still there. i took it in a second time and they replaced the throwout bearing again (yeah, they weren't too bright), and surprise surprise, the noise didn't go away. finally they replaced the entire clutch, which helped the problem a little, but by that point i didn't really care anymore. i just learned to live with it and it eventually went away about six months later. all the other people i've talked to with manual stangs have never had that problem so i don't think its necessarily across the board. other than that, my clutch works fine...

the 99+ clutches are good clutches and are cheap to replace, the issue is in the throw out bearings (not clutch just the bearing that goes on the fork arm) its POS mine has went out 4 times.... in a year.... ford cant install throw out bearings .....

definatly buy a 99+ they are a second faster and ONLY get a 5 speed autos are HORRIBLE! (i know I had a 97 stang auto...)
