hahahahahahhaha, wow im in the same situation as you kinda. Borrowed a quad from work, friend rolls it down a hill, does about $350 worth of damage (canadian). Not to much, but hes refused to pay me until now, even though i havent been paid back in full yet. And im the one stuck with the bill

Actually hes not. You probably havent had anything nice enough such as a quad to know what this is all about. But if your riding other peoples toys and you screw it up, then you fix it, end of story. Everyone with a toy knows how it works. Yea maybe his buddy was wrong for taking his motor but there is alot here to the story that is missing, Im sure. It sounds like his buddy did what he has to to get his point across. Why did the guys at his own shop let the buddy take his motor? HMMMMM......

The guy had no right to go get your motor. When he let you ride his 4wheeler then he new there was a change something could happen. If i let someone ride mine, they wreck it.. i wouldnt expect them to pay for it. I know at the time that something could happen. If i let someone drive my car at the track, if it breaks... its not their problem. Same thing. He had no right to go get your motor. I'd be on the phone with the cops right now. Push it as far as you can. You'll get your motor back.

If i had wrecked his 4wheeler, i'd feel obligated to fix it. Thats just me, doesnt mean that you should have too.

408stroker is a moron... "Pressing charges is immature, blah blah blah im a dirty tramp".. a "FRIEND" of mine stole over a grand worth of DVD's from my house. I never officially knew it was him until he left to go for college but you BETTER ****ING BELIEVE when he gets back i'm dealing with him myself. No police, no courts. He had no right to steal your engine if you had told him that you would pay him to fix it you just didnt have the money right now. You not having an engine isnt going to make you get money any faster and theft is theft.. Do what you want to do but dont listen to 408. Take him to court, Report him to the police, whatever you want, either way he deserves what he gets.

This thread is really starting to make me sick.... Read my posts'...Not once did I say It was right for the guy to steal the engine...By all means it was wrong.... But it could have been prevented.

1) Gopher Brought It Upon Himself By wrecking an ATV that he most likely was driving like an idiot with.
2)No matter what his friend said Gopher SHOULD have payed for the damages PERIOD.
3)Instead of hanging up the phone on the guy tell him you'll have money soon or atleast start making weekly payment's to keep him satisfied.

Majority of the guy's on this thread are all about kicking his ass, calling the cop's, taking him to court, or sueing him. Jesus Christ.....what a bunch of imature kid's on here. Go and work it out with your friend instead of ranting and raving like a 5 year old and work something out....I'm sure the two of you can come to some sort of an agreement. Forget about the cops because all they will do is tell you to take him to court. Forget about that unless your prepared to spend thousand's (More Then The 460 is Even Worth) of dollar's on a lawyer. And sure....Go ahead and kick his ass, or tell him the way it is.....it will only make thing's worse. Gopher YOU started the problem and brought it upon yourself so deal with it like a man. If you want to see your motor PAY up like you should have and the problem is solved. ONCE again I will state that I am not supporting his friend for stealing the 460.... Obviously your friend is an idiot just like you and his day will come.

Im sorry but If my close friend broke my quad I wouldnt yell at them and say "GIVE ME $800 ****ER" I would assume that my BEST FRIEND would know enough that I would want It repaired or I would work out a deal depending on the costs and the condition my atv was in.

Why let someone get away with $800 worth of damage, there is no need to get angry but I would tell my friend later on I want it to be fixed and him being my best friend there would be no argument and he would agree to fix it since it was his fault or like I said above work out some sorta deal.

If your not agreeing to fix it I think YOUR the *******...but it is pretty childish of him to take your motor, but again its just wrong of you not paying for the quad if he wants money to fix it.

Your best friends for **** sakes...this makes no sence

Ok, here's my take. If I remember right from the other posts, you paid $50 for the motor. Also, you were debating whether or not to put it in your car. Most people told you not to put it for many reasons. Why don't you let these situations wash each other out? I think you definitely owe this guy for the repair. Instead of putting it in your car, why don't you give this kid the $50 motor instead of giving him $800 for the repair. Then put this behind you and build a nice 302 motor. In the end, I think the 302 is a better choice anyway.

ok as soon as i mentioned the cops and pressing charges to him he got really pissed off then said go ahead we can play hardball mother ****er and hung up. then he lol called back later and must have been really scared cause he now wnats to work something out and he says i am getting my motor back on saturday. and i do have a bill of sale from the tech teacher for the motor and stand with the motor casting numbers on it so i can prove its mine. and right after i get that motor back on saturday, I AM GOING TO BEAT THE LIVING **** OUTTA THAT LITTLE ****ER. o yeah, hes 17, im 21.

Put a 351 in it. Be just as fast and you wouldnt have the weight of that bigass 460.
