best plenum?

My custom superchip didnt do much of anything as far as hp and torque goes, it made its biggest differences with the shift points and firmness of the shifts, it raised my rev limiter about 800 rpm, and deleted the top speed limiter. It supposedly adjusted my fuel and timing, but I didnt notice much of anything.

at the track or dyno.... it ake people's sotp meters with a grain of salt. i havent noticed any gains from anything other than gears by driving the car. Now my et and trap info and corrections show good gains

I actually ran a tenth slower with the chip, intake, and 80mm MAF when I installed it all. Im hoping I make up for the loss with the recent gear and differential swap.

I love my Accufab 75mm TB and Plenum. I got them used for a good price but I was going to get them anyway. The TB is a thing of beauty on the inside, not nearly as rough as the stock.

+1, best looking TB on the market IMO...

I think the dragon looks great. The new permastar is probably as good if not better looking than the accufab and cheaper.

We just got done testing Dragon's plenum and new throttle body on our project '04 GT. It got 11.3 hp with a stock inlet tract.

There's a link to it on our home page. www.stangpro.com
I had to become a dragon dealer after I saw first hand what the parts offered for the money.

I can't remember from the MD article which was highest. The accufab cost more though. Dragon is the only other compnay that offers a TB/plenum combo.

The C&L has a matching inlet tube though, that no other company except the new staged DeMolet's have. They seem to be the most complete (air filter to plenum in one kit).

Does anyone else offer anything like that?

I am in favor of porting the stock one. Check my earlier post on this: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=544606

I did not post an after pics, but my car definetly runs better. The throttle response is much better, and it definetly has a little more power. It is a great mod to do, and you can not beat the price. I already had an air grinder with stones and sanding rolls so the cost to me was $0. You can use a drill and a cheap porting kit from some place like Summit Racing ($30). I did not get to port it as much as I would like. To do a perfect job requires a carbide cutter or a milling mahcine. I did the best I could with my tools, and it took me around 3 or so hours to do (that includes polishing it and some work on the TB).

I am still using the stock TB (slightly ported). The stock elbow is about 71 mm at the TB opening, and thus you would not want to go bigger than a 70 mm TB on a proted stok unit. The difference between a 65mm and a 70mm TB is actually pretty noticable. The aftermarket elbows can accept a 75 mm TB.

If you have some free time I say port your own. It is a heck of a lot cheaper, and the gains will be close to the aftermarket pieces.

All of the major name plenums make the same power. Choose based on looks and price.

I mean I am I stupid or somethig. You say they are all the same but when i look at those dyno graphs I don't see the same. If you look at the graph posted over at MD with all the plenums the accufab has better power accross the band. Peak numbers are not as important as average.

I chose the accufab because the dyno grahp showed more gain through the whole band.

Those numbers are all within the data scatter range for a dyno. What this means is that the same car could have been run over the course of a day with the same parts on it and gotten the same range of numbers.
A change of 1 degree, a little atmospheric pressure change or a different brand of gas will make more of a difference. It's a good test, but all it does is show that they're all the same.

I think what he meant was that the power difference is minimal. If you look at those graphs we are only talking about 1-2 hp. That is, practiaclly speaking, not even noticable, especially if you consdier the amount of money you are spending.

I think everyone agrees that the Accufab setup makes the most power. However, it is also the most expensive setup. For some, the $50 or $100 they save on going with the cheaper pieces, that only make 1-2 less hp, can be spent on something more important.
