is there any way to actually get around the OBD-II check, i mean by erasing the codes with an actron or d/cing the battery and then testing it? i havent gotten a tuner yet for my swap+o2 sensor cut offs cause i cant afford one. the damn misfire code too. every shop i've been to does the OBD-II test but not the smog or visual cat checks.

Summit sells some cheap scanners that will deleted the codes. You could bring that with you to the Emissions Check building and clear the codes before you pull in.

Here in PA, the test station relies strictly on a post-1996 car's own computer to "rat out" the owner in terms of emissions compliance.

I am surprised that no enterprising electrical engineer isn't selling "fake", or decoy, OBD-II connectors. One that would report back simply that "all is OK" to the emission test station. Kind of something like the fake connector just in front of the real one, maybe actually plugging into the real connector, but filtering out any "bad" codes or messages.

TKS for the info, I just moved back from Texas and need to get mt GT inspected. :nonono:

MIL eliminators WILL work to pass and OBD II test...at least SLP's did for me. My dad owns a shop and we did some testing with them and they passed perfectly. The reason they work is because they just don't clear the codes....they tell the computer there is nothing wrong so there are no codes. Disconnecting the battery will do nothing because the codes will come back immediately, but the check engine light won't come back on right away.

You will pass emissions, but fail the visual exhaust inspection part of the safety inspection. There are two stickers, and two independent inspections.

I passed PA Emissions... You better be close with a mechanic to get past the visual though!!! I AM!!! I have off road h pipe... YOU CANNOT have any error codes... You CANNOT just unplug battery or just erase code... P1000 Still comes up!!! You need to go to auto zone get you codes scan and buy the sensors to fix it simple as that!!! NO WAY AROUND IT!!!

These guys are all right! You can't unplug the battery or erase the codes right before inspection, YOU WILL FAIL! It needs to complete a drive cycle before it can be scanned. My only suggestion is to start making friends. The only way my car passes is because I work at a car dealership started being buddy buddy with techs and service writters. They just plug it in and keep their eyes, ears and nose closed.
