The Night Halloween Died :(

My neighborhood is a ton of fund come the Holidays. Everyone is very festive and loves to see the kids having fun. I got a old timmer who we call Griswald ( Chevy chase charater who had all the lights on his house) who decerates in true Griswald fashion even on Halloween. The mini vans/SUVs pure into our streets like back when everyone found out Cailifornia had gold. It's not uncommon for each one of us to see a 100+ kids saying Trick or Treat. My wife gets her camara out to take pictures of the best costumes for the kids to keep forever.
That was the good ole days until Halloween fell on a Sunday  Our town desided it was not a good idea for kids to be Trick or Treating on Sunday and even tried to orginize a Saturday Trick or Treat with little luck. As a result this year I could count on one hand how many kids I gave candy to. My wife had double me since I was busy watching Scoobydo the movie part 2 :D I guess the total of kids was between 10-20 at best. I can understand how one would come to the conclusion of Trick or Treating on Sunday may look bad but if Halloween is a questionable Holiday, than why do it at all  Does doing bad stuff only on Monday through Saturday make it ok  I'm not saying it's a bad Holiday and in truth I think it's a fun day for kids. I understand that it's a celerbration of the Harvest and not what most people think when you mention Halloween. But this doesn't mean that little kids can't dress up as their favorite Heros and go get some free candy.
Speaking of candy I will be auctioning off a huge supply of candy on Ebay since the parents choose for their kids not to get some candy :( I think I would have done better if I would have given each kid a bag of candy instead of a few pices.

If Halloween is bad then why do churches put on haunted houses? Why do they throw parties? why dont they forbid the parish to go out on that night?

This is easy Halloween is NOT Paganistic at all it is just another day, just another night, just an excuse to have some fun.

If the Religious sector is so concerned about it there would have been a law by now to forbid the holiday. There are more religious voters than non religious ones after all.

around here, most kids were out Saturday and some Sunday including a jillion at my Church Sunday nite and other churches.

All of the members decorated their trunks/tailgates and the kids went from car to car. We had the costume contest and hayride, tons of games, and the big airjumper thing.

Every kid had a smile on his/her face and it was good. Both my kids have big 'ol pumpkin buckets full to the top w/ candy.

One of the biggest churches in town had a Halloween party for kids this weekend but you couldn't drees scary. They had a nice turn out and so did the mail but not our neiborhood :( O well, atleast this year I didn't have to steal some kid's candy :D Heck I got so much left over it's unreal. I should take a picture of it. I counted 12 bags of candy minus what is in the bowl. I think it will hold 3-5 bags depending on the size of the items.

We had trunk or treat at our church...went good, lots of fun and candys! Not sure why ya think religious zealots ruined your's streets holloween? maybe they migrated to better candy feeding grounds? or grew up and just got lazy...lol who knows?
