The new Chrysler 300 got it, I'm surprised they gave it to that before the new 'Vette. Not that the 300 was a bad car, but there were a lot of other good cars on the list of 25, including the 'new Stang. What do you think?

The Vette is not as "revolutionary" as the Mustang, IMO. It is an evolution of last year's car- and $60K (with most dealers charging $10K over sticker). I just got an 05 GT. A friend of mine- ex-racecar driver, and new C6 Vette owner, drove the Stang last night. He ran it through its paces, and was blown away- "How much is this thing? Unbelievable" he said.

Ford took a "everyman's sports car", popularly priced, and totally reworked it. They fixed (as far as I see) every issue the car ever had, and re-introduced it at the same price level. Hands down it should be everybody's "Car of the Year".

The 300 will be one of those "how could we have thought THAT was a good looking car" stories 25 years from now.

If you look at Motor Trend's track record, is this a big surprise? One of their biggest blunders that comes to my mind is back in 1980 when they chose the Chevy Citation!!! :rlaugh: Their criteria and mine are very different!

Another of Motor Trend's big blunders was in 1989 when they gave the title to the Thunderbird SC, a decision that not even Ford Motor Company agreed with. Recalls, reliability problems, etc, cursed the car even before Motor Trend crowned the SC as the winner. That alone is reason enough to question their judgement.

Motor Trend's Car Of The Year Title is much like the Heisman Trophy; it's bad karma to win either one.

The 300 is one sick looking car, yea yea I know you want your Mustang to win but c'mon, unless you have an Enzo there will always be an overall better car out there.
They also did a thing on some news channel with the Mustang, Vette, 300 and Magnum... they were all over the Vette and the 300... the guy was just about drooling over the c6.

I wish the Stang would have won, but you can't look past what the 300 has done to Chrysler's image. The car has completely saved the company, and in terms of styling has captured the interest of every part of society, a feat that should not be ignored.

Considering the Stang lost to the 300 I'm not too upset... now had that Vette won with Chevy's still crappy and cheap looking interior I would be upset (how can anyone pay $45K+ for a car that has an interior like that I'll never know).

Saw a 300 HEMI C with burgundy aftermarket paint, aftermarket chrome grille, bling bling chrome wheels and a swing-up door kit (keep in mind this is a 4 door sedan so that looked a little odd) a few weeks ago. The stock 300 HEMIs look nice but... a few years from now people won't even recall what they were. :notnice:

It would have been nice for the Stang to win but as has already been said the 300C is a phenomenal vehicle that is pushing Chrysler up to an entirely different level.
That car has people looking at Chryslers that never would have even considered the thing previously. It does everything remarkablely well. The interior is nice. It is VERY striking looks wise and I promise you in 20-30 years people will definately know what these cars are. It's inexpensive compared to the other cars in it's class and it's bloody fast for a heavy luxury sedan. My neighbor up the street has one in black and I maddog it every time I drive past their house. If I had a family I wouldn't even be considering another car.

I'm no Chrysler fan but...I think Chrysler got the nod because they turned the market segment on its ear. If Ford had put this car (and engine) on the market we would all be patting Bill on the back. My son-inlaw just ordered a Dodge magnum and he is a chevy fan from way back...traded in his Avalance. The 300C is making waves. Its a good value...it has a great power plant, has a VERY comfortable ride and most people agree it looks nice as well . I have driven one and I was suitably impressed and I have an 04 Lexus LS430 to compare to (at twice the money of a 300C I might add) Will it be reliable? Only time will tell. One thing is certain...its a far different car than the 05 mustang...and so it should be, its an entirely different car/market segment. I think it is very hard to compare cars in different segments...and this creates the controversy. In conclusion...I wouldn't trade my 05 Mustang for a C. Now the 05 Vette is a really nice car but I always have had a love of Mustangs....and no amount of hot iron from Chevy or Chrysler will chase them out of my garage!!! :)

I'm with most on this. The 300C desearved it. Unless you've rode in one, and really checked it out, you have no idea. Two people at work have them, (pearl white, and black)... and I'm still in awe. It's a sweet ride. They put alot of thought into that car, everything from the exterior design to the engine shutting down to 6 cyl when you don't need the 8.
