Just sold my 95 Firebird Formula and am getting a mustang. Quick question, What is the differences between the 2001 Mustang GT, and the 2001 Mustang Bullitt. I am going to go race on this car, but dont want to get the bullitt model and then have it be real hard to find parts for the bullitt instead of the GT. I already know a lot of GT parts are out their, but have not seen a lot of Bullitt parts. So whats the main differences Ect.?

Bullitt =
- Different intake
- Cobra brakes
- Billet shift ball
- Seats have retro material
- Different springs f/r
- Different shocks/struts
- 28mm front sway bar / 19mm rear sway bar
- Bullitt specific rocker moldings
- Billet gas door
- Billet shifter ring
- No side scoops
- No spoiler
- OE Sub frame connectors

plus a different tune. but you would replace that with a racer once you start modding it seriously. Also, to the above list add underdrive pullies. Also they were the first to have the Bullitt rims obviously.

If you're just going to go out and build a car to run at the track, go with the GT. The Bullitts are slowly becoming collector cars and molesting them just to run the track is a big waste IMO. Not to mention all of the additional weight the Bullitt’s carry in comparison to the GT isn’t exactly going to help performance. Stock for stock, they run about the same times, save 1/10th or two. Besides any serious mods you decide to do to either car would require upgrading most of the components anyway (save for the intake if you get the Bullitt)....unless of course you went with some sort of positive displacement blower like a Kenne Bell, Eaton or Whipple...in which case the upper manifold would need to be removed with either car anyway.

Add Cobra twin bore TB, underdriven WP pulley, and a different gage cluster to that list too.
To clarify, they have Cobra brakes with red calipers, cobra seats with vertical "retro" styling and a LOT of side bolstering.

The Bullitt sits 3/4" lower, handles a lot better, and has much more low end torque.

What….you didn't think that big hunk of an aluminium intake, the fancy interior, Cobra brakes and all the billet crap comes without a weight penalty, did you? Check it out....there's about a 100-150lbs difference in weight between the Bullitt and the standard GT.

....I'll wait here, while you try to look up the specs and prove otherwise. :)

Not to nit-pick, but the weight difference is about 160lbs. The Bullitt weighs in at 3273lbs, while the GT 5spd tipped the scale at just 3113lbs.

Ehhh, c’mon….you gotta admit I was close considering I was going from memory. :D I was just basing it on an old test article that either MM&FF or 5.0 M&SF did when it came out. I remember distinctly that when they tested the models they brought them both to the scale and couldn’t figure out where all of the extra weight that the Bullitt was carrying, came from?

Same price for both(almost) why not get the bullitt?
Are you serious…. every used Bullitt I see, owners want a mint for them. You can pick up a 2001 GT for peanuts compared to what most are asking for a Bullitt. Besides, even if you are lucky enough to find a Bullitt in the right price range now, later on it’s going to be worth far more than the GT (unmolested). But as soon as he starts building it and racing it (which is what he’s going to do), that collector’s value starts to take a nosedive. It’s just such a shame to see a low production model like that get wrung out, when it could have been done cheaper and made every bit as fast and as easily, as with a run of the mill GT.
