Got my car back (rebuilt AOD)--->

just picked up my car (see sig).
It definitely feels stronger, but soem questions:
1.) From a dead stop, when I take my foot off the brake, it DOESN'T roll Forward. i was told that it would - any ideas why it doesn't?

2.) It takes about 2000s RPM before it starts to move, is this normal for the 2800 stall?

3.) It definitely shifts crisper and doesn't slip, but maybe it's just me not eing used to the higher stall.

4.) I haven't been able to stomp on it yet, I want to put some miles on it first, then they're gonna re-check everything. They also have to put in a new speedo gear(mine broke), and they're getting a brass TV grommet.

5.) There seems to be a vacuum leak (loping idle) when I start the car. Are there any components of the tranny or the tranny-to-engine bolts that would cause a vacuum leak/ loping idle?

I'll have to go spend some more time in the car paying attention to it around town.
Any ideas to the other questions?

OK, drove the car some more, a few more observations...

1.) Depending on the surface on (flat, incline, decline), it sometimes INCHES forward almost not even noticeably. Sometimes even if it's flat, it won't move at all. And on one decline in particular (not a huge hill), it even rolled BACK! What's that all about? Normal?

2.) Under light slow throttle, it can start to move @1500 RPM's, but obviously the more gas you give it, the more RPM's it takes before it starts moving. I guess that makes sense...

3.) The loping idle/ vac leak pretty much went away, donn't know what that was all about?

4.) It definately has more clamping force and better power to the wheels, but like I said, I don't want to tear it up yet until I seat everything a little bit.

Any thoughts?
 
The car not moving when you take your foot of the brake is normal for a car with a stall that higher than stock...dont worry about it. The car not moving until 1500-2000rpm is the converter slipping...thats also normal. :nice:
 
Jaymac; it does sound like its a bit higher than i would expect. when the shop put it together did they check the line pressures on the side of the trans. You might want to double check the fluid level too. It does take a few more rpms to get moving but you may just forget about it after you start having some fun with that new trans.
 
well, I'm already starting to forget about it a little bit, but I still am going to ask the shop about checking the line pressure and the whole rolling back thing. I'm definately getting used to the higher RPMS to get going, but I still think it should be lower. The shop told me to came back in a few days and they would check the pressure, fluid, hoses, adjust the TV cable, etc. etc.
I'm definintely going to ask the shop about it, though...
I also believe the fluid level is OK.
Js50ohLX, I think you're right, because they kept disconnecting the battery (my fuel pump relay is faulty and continues to cycle the pump sometimes unless you tap it). So I think it's all good now.

I think I'll call Andre first and see what his opinion on the starting RPM's are and the whole rolling backwards thing.

Any add'l opinions are appreciated -

I just spoke w/ Andre, and he said the rolling backwards is normal with my stall.
He also said it should take about 100 miles to get used to the higher starting line RPM's, then I won't even notice it. I'm already beginning to get used to it, it's just following stop-and-go traffic behind a school bus that sucks (happened to me this morning).
he also mentioned that other guys might have their idle speed set higher than me and therefore don't need as many RPM's to get the car rolling.
On that note, how do I adjust the idle speed? I read a post about it, but it might've gotten lost in the "crash" w/ the rest of my saved info :nonono: .
Any ideas?
