Hey i currently have 18x10.5 with 285/35/18 on my GT. I'm getting 99 Cobra IRS swapp in to my car nest weekend. Then I hear that 18x10.5 WILL NOT fit!!

Is that true?? It'll be 99 IRS with Sportline spring on it
Oh and wheel is AFS 03 Cobra 18" with +27mm offset

I have AFS 17X10.5's on my '03 Cobra and I had to replace the stock IRS bolt with a button head bolt in order to prevent the tire sidewall from scraping at full suspension travel. I would think your 18X10.5's may have the same problem.

There is a large bolt on both sides of the IRS, about 3.5 to 4 inches long that hold the IRS in the upper mount. The head of these bolts are capable of scraping the inside sidewall when the suspension is unweighted (like when going over a train track or bump at speed). This bolt head can come in contact with the sidewall of the tire depending on the tires width. Wish I had pictures to show you... sorry...

hummm Anyone here have pics?
ANd u hand replace this order to prevent from ur tire from rubbimng UM?
what size tire do u have?

I'm looking at 18x10 rims (not 10.5) .. Will these maybe touch the IRS bolt as well with a 295/35/18 tire ???

And if I'm running 295's out back.. What suggestions do you guys have for running in the front now.. I've heard a 275 tire in front would give it a great look/stance, but how would that play into the cornering/performance of my my baby when playing in the offramps and such..

I have AFS 18x10.5's with 295/35/18 Toyo Proxes on my 99 w/ an 03 Cobra IRS which has the same dimensions. One of the bolts is close but it hasn't rubbed yet!

sorry it didnt work out for you. If you do add it at some point you can just grind the head of the bolt a bit. I have 10.5's and 305-30-18's They would have rubbed. Small disk grinder and 2 mins .. all fixed :nice:

295, and 265, look pretty good on mine, but it is a 97. and as far as handling, I have some stuff under it, but it will definately make you hold on to something. probably 35-40 on to an on ramp off of a city street, no problem, unless my wife is with me. women!!!!
