I think that i am finnaly serious about geting a 2.3 turbo. ive been thinking about it lately, and i REALLY want a faster car. i need a fox, they are my favorite cars and i wont switch body styles or cars. and i dont wanna buy another car cuase i really like my current one minus some dings and small rust spots im fixing in june.
But i was thinking about swapping a 5.0, and i decided there were to many parts to change i would NEVER be able to figure out. so then i thought about how the 2.3 turbo is better. its fast ( but not so fast where i will kill myself) its a cool idea, no one around here will have one. also i figured there would be fewer parts to change. i have also heard people have done it for under 1500$ which i would love. now the most work i have ever done on a car is changing my intake system. but im sure if i set my mind to it, and read alot. i could manage to figure it out this summer. now all i need to do is find myself a motor/ parts car. i really wanna buy a motor thats already been rebuilt, anywhere i can do that? or should i just start searching the junkyards for a 2.3t car?

I have only changed my oil and installed my exhaust. Just read, a lot! My Dad is going to help me (if we do it). See if your Dad or your friends or their Dad's know a thing or two about rebuilding an engine. Paying a shop would be VERY expensive. Also, if you plan to rebuild it, you can go at your own pace, just drive the car as is until you get the engine the way you want it. Don't rush. Plus, it feels good knowing you did it yourself.

Just get a JY engine and drop it in...I've rebuilt tons of engines and I'd STILL just drop a used one in...just think of the mods you could buy with that extra 1000+ you want to spend doing a rebuild...

whats a JY engine? does that mean used?

Yes, JY=JunkYard

I'm with Stinger all the way.

What I have usually done is kept my eye out for a rusted out/damaged 87-88 Turbocoupe that runs good, for sale cheap. You get all the parts you need and probably still have stuff left over to sell. Last one I did, I acutally made money on because someone bought the whole rolling chassis with a 7.5" rear swapped in. :)
