Has anyone had their mirrors painted to match their car??

This is not my car. But I think the painted mirrors make the car. It's like a woman in a nice dress. When she puts the earrings on it finishes off the look.

Is it easy to get them painted? I mean, how much prep is required and are there any issues with the paint bonding to the mirrors? I'd love for mine to match. The black looks cheap.

I would imagine the best way would be for the housing/mirrors to be removed from the car. Then separate the mirrors so that all you have is the black plastic. Then a bunch of sanding to make it smooth. Then prime, paint, sand and polish.

I was considering to have the mirrors and the plenum cover painted at the same time by the same painter.

Here is a another picture. Sorry that I don't have a better closeup.

myxmach1 might be able to help you out on this one.

If a guy was going to do it himself, you could just go to an auto paint supply store with your paint code and make you up some. They can even put it into a spray can for you if you'd like.

I think for this project I would let a guy shoot it with a spray gun and not use the can stuff.

Moby,

You got it. Simply, they applied good old Bondo, let dry over night, sand smooth, then shoot the mirrors. They were able to get the paint code from the door label.
