Why did you get an AUTO tranny?

I want a GT with Auto instead of manual. Main reason for auto I guess is that i'm too lazy to shift. Seems everybody is telling me to get the manual. But, every manual car i've had I've gotten tired of shifting even though I don't have much stop-n-go traffic. It will be my daily driver.

So...is the GT still fun to drive with auto tranny?

Also, don't do any racing, just want the extra hp and power with the GT.
Considered a V6, but GT in addition to V8 provides better sound, dual exhaust, nicer rims (bullitts), 17-in tires, fog lights, ABS.

Now, for the poll. Tell me WHY you got an AUTO vs. a manual.

Thanks for your input.

I haven't made the plunge yet, but I should probably get the automatic, as fun as the stick is to shift initially . I've had three vehicles that were manual. When I first got them I really liked them, and on the weekends when I was playing around, it was fun. But for daily driving, it was tiring, and yeah, I'm sure the hardcore shifters are going to say that I was 'lazy', and perhaps compared to them I am. I live in the city, but even though I don't get out much, I don't want any hindrance to keep me from going anywhere, and having a stick just might do that. Anyway, hope you don't mind me putting in my two cents, even though I haven't bought yet. :) Btw, I wouldn't consider you lazy, either.

Actually, they didnt have any manuals so i coldnt get one. I prolly wouldnt because i would think i would get lazy, but after driving this auto, and my friends 04 v6 manual, i wish i could have mine a manual :(

I wanted an auto. One reason was for drag racing, and the other was so the wife can use the car. But I got looking for a GT so late in the game that I had to settle for ANY car I could find, and I wound up with the stick. I'd gladly trade someone for their auto trans.

I got an auto, but if I could go back I would get a manual because I plan on supercharging it and the automatic is questionable as far as handling the power. If you don't plan on going crazy on performance mods there is nothing wrong with the automatic. I live in a bunch of traffic, and avg a 32mph stop and go. Plus, my size 13feet get in the way at times...

WOW! All GT's are hard to find, but I think it's even harder to find a GT with AUTO. Then, your dealer only had AUTO and no manual.

I go buy my dealership frequently, looking at all the new stangs while waiting for service, and have yet to notice either a GT or V6 with a manual, all autos. :damnit:

After 37 years of driving a stick, I bought my current ride--95 GT vert--with an auto because traffic in Southern California was getting pretty bad. Crawling through LA on a hot Friday afternoon was just no fun. Sometimes I miss a stick but I don't think I'll ever go back to a manual for a daily driver.

My ideal would be a Mustang with a slap stick manumatic but I don't think that's ever going to happen and that's a shame. Oh well.

I bought the Auto because I never really learned to drive stick, and I figured that a brand new Mustang is no place to learn how to do it. Also most of my friends who have owned manual and then bought a new car with automatic, swear up and down that they will never go back to manual.

That is exactly what I've been thinking for so long, and on other cars as well! I've always wished that I could have SOME kind of transmission that could be driven either like a manual or automatic. But like you said, oh well, I guess it's too much to hope for.

Auto cos of traffic, plus it was the only one in the area (bought Oct last year).

Well they just love me so much, from the new tires, bra, accident, back for tire check and maybe some other trips....
