I bought a set of 4 of these wheels for my 86 stang. I only bought them to mount road race slicks. I am curious what year of Mustang they came off of. I know they are 16x7.5 :notnice: , so that means I cannot run a very fat tire. I have seen 245/50/16 on 91-93 Pony Wheels and they bulge out of the sides and it would kill my handling. So I am thinking of a 225/50 or 45/16 for slicks. What do you guys think the fattest tire I can fit on these wheels without bulging out of the sides? And what year did these come off of?

Those wheels were introduced in either 2000 or 2001. Those years still used the split 15x7 tri-spokes, but the 5 star 16x7.5's were available as an option, as well as part of the premium package. In 2003 an painted white version became the standard as the split tri-spokes were eliminated; and the steel version remained for the premium package, and "V6 performance package." The Pony Package cars got chrome versions.
They're definately not from the pre-'99's.

There are also 3 different center caps. My sister's premium package '01 came with the pony center caps. And the set I bought for my '66(from ChrisyellowV6 :nice: ) has no pony, but 5 holes where the lug nuts are. The last is the V6 performance package center that has a pony in the center and a series of holes circling the outside of the cap.

EDIT: I can't really help with the tire question, but PM a member named Xaranthu. I haven't seen him post in a while, but he had a set of those on his '84 SVO.

did you not read my last post?

This whole thread got confusing, but he was quoting someone else.
My other post was just to answer the original question.

Either way, all tri-spoke rims are 15x7. The two you showed in your last post are the earliest and the latest. There is also another design that is somewhat of a mix between the two you showed.
2002 was the last year a 15x7 rim came on Mustangs. '03-present V6es all use 16x7.5 . And the newest ones have optional spinners like I had on my '66 :nice: .

Those are the stock rims on my '02 V6. except that those are much better looking :D . I'm nowhere near my car right now so i couldn't tell you what size tire to use except that it's a 16" rim.

The ones the came on the 99 gt's were similar to this one. All gt's come with 17 inch wheels.
Those wheels are from the 01-04 v6s. The 99-00 where the tri spoke ones. Ugliest wheels on the stang ever.

Nope. Ive definitely seen those on a 99 GT. My friend had them on his. They are 16s
