i know there are alot of different opinions on cai's and that sort of thing..but, would a k&n fipk really give you THAT much more than a drop in? besides the fipk looking better does the cost justify the gains?
we just put a drop in filter in my dads mazda truck that he uses for his garden stuff and we both can feel a difference...point being is that id rather spend the Fipk money on a MGW and a drop in rather than just the fipk...any opinions

thanks, tony

I say just drop the biggest K&N you can in, and spend the money on the shifter. I always thought cai's are too pricey considering the minimal gains. But if looks are of value, they are more reasonable.

I know you'll enjoy the shifter much more then the cai.

personaly i would go with the DeMolet CAI. i had the drop in K&N and took it out for my DeMolet sage 1 system 5 for my GT. noticed a much cleaner RPM band with the SOTP dyno. cant say i noticed POWER but noticeed the upper RPMs from around 4-6k were much cleaner in responce. mated with my intake spacer, dragon plenum and 75mm TB there was a very noticable gain. i'd get the DeMolet over the K&N drop in. shoot stangpro a line as he has a good price on them. there are a few others on here that agree with me on the DeMolet.

Just stay stock instead of a drop-in as it's about worthless.
Spending $40 or 1 (or less) hp isn't worth it.

A good CAI like the JLT or DeMolet will get you almost 10hp (assuming a mostly stock car). The DeMolet makes the most power of anything we've tested or seen.

Do a K&N Drop in, but if you want some looks, Do a full CAI setup(Both worthless unless its an 03-04 Cobra)

Not to pick on you, but this is so tipical of a person regurgitating what they've heard with no evidence.

Every DeMolet we've tested, on several cars on different dynos gets at least 7hp. How is this worthless?

Where's your evidence they are worthless?

do K&N drop in. if u want the look, then get C&L inlet pipe. works just as good as CAI, but look far better

That's exactly what I did and I think it looks better and works just as good as a FIPK. I even bought them both on ebay for additional savings, I think I have about $50 into it. As for the MGW shifter, I got that too except my wife bought me that for my anniversary - cool, right?

I'll post pics when I get the C&L pipe back from powder coating, but I agree with one of the first posters, for the look the drop in and C&L is just as nice. I'm getting it ceramic coated since it is cast metal I dont want a hot tube.
