Well 2 weeks ago i went to the track and ran a 13.8 @ 100.5, that was my best, but it consistantly ran high 13.9s and 14.00s. Anyways i went this past Tues. and something was wrong, i pulled up to the tree and the idle just started to lope, my guages were all over the place and my radio kept on coming on and off, i looked at my volts guage and it was in the red area, and my alt light was on, i ran it twice that night and the performance was gone, i ran 14.6's and even a 14.8 at 96 and 97mph. I was just so slow off the line but once the car got going it felt OK like i got my performance back, but off the line was like a dog. I was cutting 2.3 60s with no spin. I had my alt check out and its making 2 volts at idle so yeah its shot!!! I have a 3G coming shortly, but i was just wondering if a shot alt could hurt you that bad, i talked to a guy at the track about it and he said he had the same prob once, he did a 3g upgrade and everything was back to normal said he even gained a .5mph. What are your thoughts?

Yes, it does hurt performance. If all of your sensors, ECM and ignition system arent getting the proper voltage the car will not run right. I upgraded to a 3g from a good working stock alternator and could tell a difference.

AHMEN!

3G actually provides adequite voltage and current at idle and deffinetly improves drivability.

Sweet guys thanks for the replies. Hopefully the 3g will get me back to normal, i know it will help a lot because it sputtering and all that crap at all, but once i get on the roads its fine, but as soon as i get to a stop light it acts up again and my amp light comes on. Thanks again!!!!!
