How do you clean the maf?

Can of Dustless Keyboard cleaning propellant or my air compressor with a blow gun attachment. Some people recommend the Q-tip method with cleaning solution (electronic cleaning fluid which doesn't leave a residue), but I don't recommend using any solvents when cleaning the MAF. Just my $0.02

I would not recommend touching the wire with anything. It is very sensitive to elongation and can break fairly easily.

I sprayed mine with some windex years back. Worked fine.

I may be wrong but aren't these wires self cleaning? I thought that after the car was shut off a current was sent through the wire for a breif time. This heats the wires and burns off any foreign matter.

What happens is people clean thier air filters and re-oil them. Sometimes that oil gets on the sensor and stays put, until you clean it. I know it heats up, but I don't know if it is enough to actually burn anything off. The sensor is sensitive yes, but the wires are pretty stout. Strong enough to be cleaned with a Q-tip.

Yeah, I know a lot of people clean it that way and don't have any problems. I will never suggest this to anyone though as I personally do not feel that using a Q-tip (or anything else for that matter) is necessary. Solvents do just fine. There is no advantage, and there is increased risk. Just my opinion.

The guy who suggested Brake cleaner is probably the smartest one here, NO RESIDUE.:nice:

Well, I cleaned mine over the weekend. All I had for a cleaner was windex. So I didnt have much of a choice but to use the q-tip. At first i just wet the q-tip and just kinda wiped it down a little bit. Then I realized that the wire wasnt really supposed to be BROWN. After bout 5 min of light scrubbing, I have 2 nice silver wires now. Car seems to be running quite a bit better now too.

Thanks guys
