Well after reading up on T-5s and talking to people with experience i was pretty sure that i broke my 3-4 Shift fork. Well that would be an easy fix because the they are on the top of the box and that is like the 3rd thing to come off. But i open it up and of course the forks are perfectly find. Me and my dad dug in a little more do find this!!!!
Well here is why my car looks like now.

Yikes. So no simple fix for me. I cant believe i was still able to drive it for 15 miles, wow. I guess ill call Hanlon and get the rebuild kit and see how much the main shaft is gonna cost me. Anyone have one for sale?? :owned:

Sorry to see you had that kind of luck.

Our hobby would be so much nicer and easier if Ford still built drive line parts like they did back in the older days.

Example......9 inch rear & top loader trans

Hope you can get it back together without too much of a hassle.

i think i have a mainshaft at the shop..... i will check later when i go by there.....

is that all the damage that was done.... If so i would order a rebuild kit if you haven't already, check for broken or chipped teeth on all the other gears. I would at lest put new bearings and blocker rings in though since you are gonna have to tear it down to the shaft itself...... Be careful with that spiral lock that holds on second gear assembly it will cut the pi$$ outta you trying to remove it.....lol

also i forgot to add..... or ask, did you buy the video for the rebuild..... how was it quality and explanation wise in your opinion..

just looked at the pics again...where it shattered..... you may be able to slide everything off the backside for second gear etc....as long as there aren't any lips you would have to forced the gear over...

Yeah i bought the hanlon video, i think it was really good at explaining it. They completely break it down and then rebuild it again, with new parts. Takin it apart is not much of a problem. The gears themselves seem to be in great shape, so i got a little lucky there. If you have a mainshaft i will probably pick it up from you. Im going to call hanlon on monday and get the rebuild kit, and the correct speedo gears, because that 23 tooth gear was COMPLETELY Chewed up. Ill ask him for a price on the main shaft, but im sure u can beat it.

Also is this a wierd break? I usually only see people with broken shift forks or sheared off gear teeth, i dont thinki hav heard of someone just splitting the main shaft.

with 3.73's you need a six tooth drive gear(black) and a 19 tooth driven.... i believe that is right....

i will check the shop tomm. morning as i didn't make it this afternoon, family stuff....

good luck on the progress.

Wow, Nice job. I am waiting for Mark to e-mail me about that local shop out here. If you can't find a shaft here, let me know, and I will push harder to find it. Good luck with the build. If you need any help, you know where I am.

that is not something that happens often.... i have the mainshaft, it is used, around 75,000 miles from what i was told.... I can pm what i think it would be worth based on new and used prices i have came across.....
