4R70W Seal Problem

I am wondering if anyone has had a problem with the rear seal where the driveshaft goes into the 4R70W transmission. I had a mechanic put a new seal in the rear of the transmission last week. I then drove the car on Friday to work and it is still leaking.

The seal seems to be popping out for some reason after the car is driven a little distance. I would say around 10 miles or less.

What could cause this seal to pop out? Do you think they just put the wrong seal in the transmission. Maybe they didn't even put the correct seal in the car.

Thanks for any help.

It was like $130 to get the new seal put in the tranny but it still leaks bad. I have it at a tranny place today and they are saying that high pressure could be causing it to pop out.

I have a Predator with the pressure raised on the shift points. Can this cause the E.H. seal to go out? Has anyone with a Predator had this problem with the automatic tranny? I have the pressure set about half way with the tuner.

I know raised line pressure can cause internal transmission issues, but never heard of it causing a seal to blow. I suppose its possible. Just a quick note, you should never raise the line pressure in the 4r70w transmission. It will operate fine on its stock settings, even with lots of high performance mods. The only person who I would trust to raise the line pressure in my car is Jerry Wroblewski(or someone like him at SCT who knows what they're doing). That, and they will raise the line pressure to a custom setting. Not just a single setting for all transmissions. I dont know what all custom settings the diabalo predator allows, but I recommend going back to stock and see if it fixes the problem.
