How did they compare and which did you like better?

According to Motor Trend Magazine they basically have the same performance figures. The Mustang automatic was quoted as being as quick as the Mercedes AMG speedshift automatic. 1/4 mile 13.6 @99.9.

Both are nice and better than previous years. The standard is much smoother and the shifter placement is better. The auto has closer ratios in first thru 3rd which leads to good 0-60 jaunts, but there is a gap in the 3rd to 4th shift. I chose the auto for the first time in 13 years in a Mustang and I've owned about 15 in that time frame, so that has to say something. I do miss the standard from time to time, but I'm pretty happy with the auto.

Thanks Mike

Test drove the stick, bought the Auto. Both are excellent, but it just depends on what you want out of it. The feeling of going gear to gear and listening to the rpm band - or the Auto for convenience (i.e. I smoke and drink coffee in mine on the way to work etc.). The Auto sounds excellent as well and is very, very quick as well. Your choice. Mine was the Auto and I don't regret it one bit :)

We got the manual because that's what Hatch wanted, but I wanted an automatic. With the demand being so freakin high, we took what we could get, and other than the tranny and side air bags, we got everything else we wanted. Plus it saved us a grand!

The wife wants a vert on the next go round and an auto. I am resisting because I like to row my own gears(mainly in a Mustang) but the idea of an auto/top down/nice evening rides sound really good.

The stick without a doubt. Mine is incredibly smooth and forgiving. Love it.

Plus, it gives you the option of keeping the revs up to listen to that lovely exhaust. It will also help me control the vehicle during the Michigan winters.

....'s group of friends who have all posed in Hustler during the last year and you get to deside which 4 you are going to take home for the weekend and which additional 4 get to join in. :D

I have had a GT with a 5-speed and a 2003 Mach 1 with a 5-speed. I am partially disabled with arthiritis and now have an automatic.
Time catches up on all of us. While I love a 5-speed reality dictates an automatic.
Driving an automatic can still be fun, especially if it's in a Mustang.

I chose a manual because I think the Tremec 3650 is a better transmission than the 5R55E auto. Now if Ford would have kept the 4R70W in the Mustang, I may have chosen that. I don't feel like trying to swap that in.
