What is the deal with the rev limiter?? At about 5500 I either have to shove it into 2nd or I screech to a halt and my tranny screams at me. How can I get around this??? I am not a all the time red liner but ****, I push for the power. Any ideas?

I can just about get to 6000 RPM on mine, according to my tach, it is bone stock. If it hits 6000 RPM though, the limiter really throws you around in the seat. The only way to raise the limiter is with a flash type tuning device.

Doesn't sound normal to me. I thought the stock rev limiter didn't kick in till 6200 RPM. I've pushed mine to 6K on occation and have not bounced off the rev limiter yet.

You are not encountering Rev-limit as much as the throttle closing down just before the engine hits Rev Limit at 6,200 rpm.

The ECM in the 05 activates throttle response in a modulated manner, it doesn't snap open. :( This is where the quick shifts are inhibited by the throttle closing before it hits Rev-limit.

To get maximum response out of the stock engine, a flash and retune is required. Changing over to a higher octane, making an aggressive change in timing and experimenting with the adjustable cams by retarding them a couple degrees off TDC at high rpm and increasing the rev limiter to around 6800 you will have the fresh, head snapping response you are looking for. Until you have ran a few handheld devices or laptop software programs on the ECM/EEC-V/PCM, I would recommend a professional shop that can design and customize your flash and tune. It is amazing what they can do when they have the time and experience to play with the modulation on the new Stangs.

Hope this helps...
