Hey guys. First time posting in this forum. I've been a 5.0 guy for the last 7 years, but I just picked up a 1993 LX 2.3 as a daily driver.

I've noticed that the passenger floor pan is getting wet when the A/C is running. Upon further inspection, I found that the drain is working as is supposed to, but there is an open hole beneath the drain hose that is letting some water get back into the cabin. Is this supposed to be open or is there supposed to be a grommet or something?

Here is a picture of the open hole from the inside:

Also, I'm getting some oil leaking from this part on top of the valve cover and dripping down onto the manifold. Is this part of the PCV and what would cause it to leak out like this?

I have no clue about your A/C.

About the oil leak -

Replace the hose. Mine just has a moulded rubber hose, there isn't the plastic elbow.

Should be simple. (I'm not an expert by any means so there could be more to it)

Here is what is happening:

The water is coming out of the drain as it is supposed to. But it is dripping down from the drain, down the firewall and coming into the open hole, thus running down into the floorboard.

When there is enough water coming out, it has enough force to clear the firewall and hit the ground as it should. But when there isn't much coming out, it is dribbling from the end of the drain down into the hole.

Think of a water hose that is barely on, and the water is dribbling out, but coming back down the hose instead of falling to the ground.

I've got to block that hole. I'm trying to think of how to do it and keep it waterproof.

I guess I could screw a small piece of sheet metal to the firewall and use blue RTV or silicone around the hole?

if the drain isn't too big, you could just put a hose on that hole? and make this hose go near the ground? No?

I might try that. I don't know if there is enough of the drain sticking out to get a hose clamp on it.

I might also try sealing that hole from the inside with a flat piece of aluminum and some blue RTV.

I have the same problem with the oil. Is this normal?

the seal around the ac tube should be a complete circle, what appears to have happened is someone had a system in that car befor and used the ac grommet to run the power cable through. can you rotate the grommet to where the slice is on the tops side of the hose? then reseal around the ac tube with some rtv to keep moisture out. as far as the leaky hose on the valve cover, yes it is common, just like on every older engine, the rubber breaks down and gets hard, causing the leak... just go buy some new hose and a couple of worm clamps and that'll solve the problem
