left the girlfriends house on saturday afternoon...heading back to my home.....

stopped at a local food lion, to get some groceries.....

in the store about 20min, come outside to see some guy standing by my car.....thinking he was admiring........he said, "dude, your gonna be pissed"

then he showed me.......

he said, " he was in the next aisle over when he happend to look over seeing a lady in a little "suv" something like a rav 4 to my guessing, backing up and he heard a "smack" and saw my car shake....

he started to walk over to my car, and she DROVE OFF !!! he said he tried to get her attention, then her lisc plate, but he didn't really see it.....

he said she drove off very slowly and normally, probably didn't even know that she did it !!

i kinda suspected him, but he drove a older civic......it looks like it was an suv kinda vehicle, missed the bumper, lights and all that, it looks as if the rear bumper touched the hood and pushed it backward.....all the damage is above the pass. wheel.....the hood started "bending" right before the hinges and sits about 1 inch off the fender, other than that its all right !!!!!

but still, i just got her last sunday.....220 miles on her !!!

Same thing happened to me in a parking lot. The left corner of my rear bumper is missing some paint and I can see the black plastic in a few spots. I hate ass holes who hit you and just drive off.

2003GT...That just blows my friend. :( I am so sorry to hear this. If it was me (and I do not cry easy) I would have been bawling. Your poor little baby!...

Well, hang in there and I hope you called the police for a report with the guy who witnessed it and then contacted your insurance carrier.

Hang in there bud. She WILL BE FIXED!

na, didn't call the police, not enough info, and i don't want an increase on my ins, so i'm gonna pay out of pocket, if its alot to fix it, i might check into an aftermarket hood.....

A hit and run wont count against you. Alot of the time you need a police report for your insurance company, but you can call the local non emergency line and tell them what happened, that the car was driveable so you took it home, and they will give you a report # over the phone. You will pay a deductable and where I live for hit and run it is $250.

I dont understand why people shell out money every month for insurance, and dont bother to learn how it works, and when you can use it for yourself. Hit and run, and vandalism are things that you are protected from with insurance. Its not your fault and it wont count against you, as long as you arent one of those shady people claiming **** 3, 4 times a year...then they might get pissed. But you should really call. You pay for it every month!!

Sorry thats just a pet peve of mine. Sorry about your car. I had mine keyed 3 weeks after buying it. I know how it can feel. People SUCK.

And my wife thinks I'm insane because I drop her at the stores door and then sit in the car out in the North 40 of the parking lot while she shops.

I say at least she gets door side drop off/ pick up.

Protected?? By WHO?

No federal law I know of, no state law I have heard of “Protects” an insured person from a insurance company charging you more based on activity of the policy, driving habits and reported claims. The insurance company may have internal policies which give them the option to not increase your rates,,,,But your not protected from anything unless it’s in writing. If your company has such a written policy.. Please share with us the policy, and costs associated.

I have 4 vehicles, 3 motorcycles, a 32 ft TH trailer, 25 ft car trailer, motorcycle trailer and a house insured. The point of knowing your policy is DEAD on. Know what is covered, how, and ask in advance what will require the company to raise your rates, what will cause them to consider raising your rates, and what they do not consider.

Insurance is a business..... and they are in it to make money,, not “protect the insured” that is just a “requirement” they “have” to provide.

Its just a way of saying you pay insurance so that when things like that happen you are covered. I dont know what kind of ****ty ass company would raise somebodys rates who were involved in vandalism or a hit and run?

Best thing for the guy to do is call and speak to his insurance company. I have been driving for 8 years, in that time I have had 2 cases of vandalism on my cars and 1 hit and run. My record is still perfect and my insurance is cheap.

If somebody pays insurance, and most pay alot especially owning sports car and being young like alot of us are...and you pay that premium and dont even call when your car gets damaged....do they realize they are throwing money away?

This is a perfect scenario where you can make that money do something for you for once...so for the love of god please use it. It just makes me sad to see people being taken advantage of by their own inability to educate themselves.

Little old ladies tend to shop in the same place (esp for food) more than once. They might even keep the same schedule. You might be able to find her if you return to the parking lot accordingly. Then nicely let her know that she hit your car (on such a date). At the very least you can get her plate number and (as a last resort) report the incident as a hit an run to the police.

Damn, that sucks. Hopefully everything comes out ok. That happened to us when I was a kid. We came out from Target, and there was a bunch of people standing around our dunebuggy and a couple of cops. I guess some lady couldn't see it in the spot b/c it was a smaller car, and smashed right into the back of it. Well, obviously the engine is right there. Broke the to motor mounts, bent the headers all to hell, etc... Luckily when she tried to take off, about 5 cars blocked her into the parking lot so that she couldnt. That was very nice of them. Good thing, too, because we couldn't get full coverage on that car, since it was a homade/kit car, so her insurance had to cover it.

Man that sucks dude... i had someone in a RAV4 back into my hood too so i bought the Saleen hood and it totally erased any memory of being hit b/c it looks so damn good.
I'm sorry about your car, you and i are in the same type of sit (mine just got vandalized by a pack of kids in a RAV4 also) so i'm convinced its some curse...
Not only that, but the same day my car got vandalized, it got hit by another woman in the car wash in a RAV4 (no damage though) ...someone is out to get us, and its Toyota.

ya, thanks all......ins said that its a "collision" bill because it was hit by another motor vehicle.....

my ins is already high due to some older tickets when i was younger and my age now and the car i drive, so i don't really want this on my ins....

Did you ask them would it count against you if you have a police report saying it was hit and run? It really shouldnt dude, I have never heard of anybody not being able to claim a hit and run, unless they abuse it and claim **** like that all the time to the point where it looks like fraud.

It really doesn't matter if it was a hit and run. I've never heard of an insurance company that uses a 100% no fault policy. If your vehicle was involved, you are at some fault. If they are paying out, then you can bet they will alter your rates.

I had someone hit one of my vehicles while I was sleeping, as it was parked at my house. I went through insurance, they fixed it, they rasied my rates, and then the next year they dropped me because of it!

****ty insurance company. Like I said before, Ive had 1 hit and run, 2 vandalisms over the 8 years ive been driving. Never had an increase in my insurance, in fact it has pretty much dropped every renewal period. Sometimes only a few cents, sometimes more.

State Farm always treated me right. Granted I had a perfect record, no tickets, no at fault accidents. I had a police report for all 3 of those claims and they told me on the phone "no this will not count against you".

I would get a different insurance company in a heartbeat if my company pulled that **** on me. For what people pay in insurance, people should be taken care of better than that.

state farm here too. after my accident with my mustang, my insurance went down when I bought the Magnum, a car that's 2 years older and higher rated horsepower.. couldn't believe it. i wouldn't have any other insurance co.

thats why when i go to a store, i park in the way back, where theres no one else, and park in as many parking spots at once that i can. i try to do it near a curb or something like that to keep people as far away as possible. i get note on my car that say learn to park a$$hole!! i keep them, shows i am doing something right!!! i have had my car for over 6 months, and NO DOOR DINGS OR SCRAPES. TRY IT, IT WORKS!!!!

I park in the outback too, wherever I go. But, I never take up more than 1 space because I'm afraid that'll help entice some assclown to vandalize my pony. I try to find a space next to a curb with only 1 other parking spot next to me, and I park as far over next to that curb as possible, leaving extra room between my ride and the next parking spot.

They all will, given enough claims. All of your claims go onto your C.L.U.E. report, which is like your credit report for insurance. At-fault are the worst of course, but even a few windshield replacements can cost you in the long run.

I carry very high deductibles because of this. Insurance isn't there to cover every little scratch or dent you get into, it's to cover catastrophic losses.
